After our morning walk around the lake in Hughenden we make the Jayco ready for the road once more.
The next section of the Flinders Highway to Julia Creek proves to be even more challenging, slowing to 90 kph helps but the dips into the bridges and culverts reminds us of a carnival ride.

Three hours or so later we roll into Julia Creek do a lap of town before making for the free RV stop. It stands on a series of lagoons that make up Julia Creek on the edge of town.
Our plans to walk back into town seem to dissolve when our new best friends in the caravan next door suggest a beverage and a chat. One thing leads to another and the afternoon slips through to the keeper.
Next morning Pam is surprisingly bushy tailed and a forced march exploring the township occursโฆ

With a population of around 500 Julia Creek services the local beef and sheep stations, mind you we never saw any sheep. Thereโs the opportunity to bath in the artesian waters at the caravan park but as you might expect Pam prefers a free night to having a bath in slippery water. The town is very neat and tidy and surprising we found two small supermarkets.

We make the Jayco ready for the road once more, say goodbye to the neighbours and make our way into town for fuel. The ducks tried their best to keep up but we eventually gave them the slip.
