Michael and Pam's Travels Our European Motorhome Adventures and other Travels

Emu Park, Queensland 2024 ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡บ

Date: 11th to 16th June 2024

Travelled: 38 kms from Rockhampton to Yeppoon

Visited: Yeppoon and Emu Park

Stayed: Beachside CP Yeppoon, $68, S23.11976, E150.749146

Budget: 27 days @ $XX per day

We spend a quiet evening at Kershaw Gardens, Rockhamptonโ€™s free camp. Cannot believe how many motorhomes, caravans and home made campers can fit into the site. Like a sardine can we have people sleeping in cars all around us.

A free night is a free night. The site is well located to a large shopping complex just across the road. Anyway one nights enough for us and we head off to Rockhampton pool as soon as we can extradite the Jayco. Pam does her laps and we make for Yeppoon.

We stayed in Yeppoon on our way north in 2021. We have booked at the Beachside CP for 6 nights, but we can only get an unpowered site but it is beachfront. Six days unpowered will be a good test of our new lithium batteries and inverter system.

As we been to Yeppoon before just a few photos to summarise our visit.

We use the bikes everyday during our visit. Whilst Yeppoon has various bike paths and a rail trail the pathways tend to be a little disjointed requiring some riding on the road side. We still manage almost 20 kilometres of riding most days.

Everyone talks up Emu Park as being worth a visit whilst in the Yeppoon area. As itโ€™s 20 kilometres south of Yeppoon along the coast the local bus (#440) seems the best option. As Friday is a pubic holiday for the Rockhampton Show, the tourist lady recommends going on Saturday.

Wandering on further around the point we find Emu Parkโ€™s War Memorial. Having travelled around Australia for a while now we found this series of information panels and viewing points most impressive. Well worth our time taking in all the detail of the locals who heard their countryโ€™s call.

Anyway weโ€™ve done Emu Park so itโ€™s time to wander up the hill to the pub for a long lunch until its time to make our way to the bus stop for the return journey.

Weโ€™ve enjoyed 6 days of beautiful weather in Yeppoon, but itโ€™s s time to continue north for our next adventure.
