Having recovered from a long wet walk around Elliston this morning we make tracks for Streaky Bay. Touring in the Jayco is made all that much more enjoyable when you know it will take less than two hours to get wherever.
It was an uneventful drive, the traffic light going our way other than whatever that was pictured below, but he did pull in at the first opportunity.
Streaky Bay, South Australia, Australia
Given how busy the CPs have been we tried calling ahead but no answer. We arrive to find the only CP near town is full, so we roll around the corner to the townโs RV stop finding thereโs plenty of room. It just a dusty paddock with no facilities and it cost $15 (but they never come to collect it).
Knowing where OK for the night, we drive back into town and go for a wander. Our first find is lovely bronze of Kerrin McEvoy, born in Streaky Bay.
As usual the silos, the pub and the wharf are easy to find. We also find a pop-up fish-n-chips serving local King George Whiting and Flack (gummy shark), we back one of each with chips to share over looking the bay.
Thereโs not much more to Streak Bay, but itโs pretty place with some lovely homes. After a supermarket stop we head out to the RV stop, chat to the neighbours and relax the late afternoon away.
Itโs another cool evening and we get a little drizzle at one stage. Next morning itโs another long walk this time around the bay, finding even more large contemporary homes.
We pop into the fish monger next to the yesterdayโs fish-n-chip place and purchased a pack of flack, next stop the shell servo run by an Indian family who also do a fabulous variety of food so we load up a korma for Ron, you know him.
So thatโs it weโve done Streaky Bay, time for the road once again.
