Michael and Pam's Travels Our European Motorhome Adventures and other Travels

County Kilkenny, Ireland ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ช 2019

Date: 9th June 2019

Travelled: 0 kilometres still in Kilkenny

Visited: Kilkenny, County of Kilkenny

Stayed: Johnโ€™s Green car-park, โ‚ฌ2 pd, free Sunday. N52.65565, W07.25848

Budget: 7 days @ โ‚ฌ101 per day

Feeling not too dusty after our evening at Tynanโ€™s Pub we look forward to a day exploring Kilkenny. Cannot say our night in the Johnโ€™s Green car-park was the quietest, but other that a few cars leaving in the early hours we managed a good sleep.

Itโ€™s Sunday morning so most things open a little later than usual, including the tourist office. We wander down when it opens and get a free map and some hints. As the cathedral doesnโ€™t open until 1pm today we decide on a tour of Kilkenny Castle (โ‚ฌ6pp).

We decide to wander back to the Hymer for lunch (Tescos Moroccan Chicken Soup) and and some R+R before the afternoon exploration.

Panorama from the top of the tower. Itโ€™s cold and windy up here.

From St Caniceโ€™s we follow our map back to the Black Abbey.

We have had enough churchโ€™s for today, so we walk back to the Hymer via the supermarket for bread. The weather is changing every 10 minutes rather than every half hour as it was earlier in the day, so we scurry back to the Hymer. The car-park empties out quickly after 6 and it looks like a quiet night.
