Feeling not too dusty after our evening at Tynanโs Pub we look forward to a day exploring Kilkenny. Cannot say our night in the Johnโs Green car-park was the quietest, but other that a few cars leaving in the early hours we managed a good sleep.

Itโs Sunday morning so most things open a little later than usual, including the tourist office. We wander down when it opens and get a free map and some hints. As the cathedral doesnโt open until 1pm today we decide on a tour of Kilkenny Castle (โฌ6pp).
The castle was the seat of the Marquess of Ormonde from Elizabethan times until 1967.
By 1967 the castle was apparently in need of a major renovation when it was transferred to the Office of Public works.
We decide to wander back to the Hymer for lunch (Tescos Moroccan Chicken Soup) and and some R+R before the afternoon exploration.
Panorama from the top of the tower. Itโs cold and windy up here.
From St Caniceโs we follow our map back to the Black Abbey.
We have had enough churchโs for today, so we walk back to the Hymer via the supermarket for bread. The weather is changing every 10 minutes rather than every half hour as it was earlier in the day, so we scurry back to the Hymer. The car-park empties out quickly after 6 and it looks like a quiet night.
