Port Augusta, South Australia ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡บ 2025

Date: 27th August to 1st September 2025

Travelled: 0 kms around Port Augusta

Visited: Port Augusta

Stayed: Shoreline CP Port Augusta, $41.50 pn, S32.47480, E137.76290

The drive south from Woomera was very windy with rain squalls. The fun continued with the slush thrown up by the road trains leaving the Jayco embarrassingly filthy. Cutting to the chase, we ordered a new driverโ€™s side mirror assemble two days ago to be delivered to the Shoreline CP.

Unfortunately we spend the next 5 days waiting for the mirror and getting to know Port Augusta like a local. Standing at the head of Spencer Gulf its considered a coastal town which struck us as a bit of a stretch.

Pictured above our view across Spencer Gulf. We settle into exploring Port Augusta with a morning walk or forced march depending on Pamโ€™s mood. The bikes come off as well, as Augusta has some good cycle paths. What follows is a snap shot of our wandering.

Pictured below, looking across the gulf past the rail yards to the Flinders Ranges beyond. The late afternoon provided the best views of the ranges when the sun cast shadows into the ridge lines.

Monday morning around 9 a courier drove in with our mirror, I could have kissed him except I kept thinking it probably had been sitting in his van since Friday when it was out for delivery according to the tracking note.

Thirty minutes later the mirror is on and everything seems to be working, so we are released from Port Augustaโ€™s grip
