We pop down to the supermarket for a loaf of the local sourdough before redying the Jayco and itโs tow buddy for the road. Cannot think of anything about Apollo Bay or the Big4 CP we didnโt enjoy.
The drive west to Port Campbell was steep climbs and tight sweeping bends exasperated by the odd car driving along at 20 kph less than the speed limit and fools who just stop in the middle of the road get out and look up with their phones obviously looking for a koala ๐จ.
Some people just don’t risk assess.
We stop at Port Campbell for a coffee and a leg stretch. Itโs a pretty village and we will drive through here several times over the next few days.
Continuing on to Martin and Geeโs farm 10 kms north of Port Campbell we settle in and make ourselves comfortable for the next 3 days. Bit of a long story but Martin offered to put us up if we were over this way and so here we are parked behind a huge shed.
No point wasting the afternoon so we take the Suzuki for a drive to Timboon a village 5 kms north of the farm. Itโs the starting point of the Timboon to Campbelltown Rail Trail. So no bikes but we walk off to explore the old trestle bridge nearby.
Next morning just after dawn we depart for Port Campbell National Park. From Port Campbell we turn east on Great Ocean Road. The photos that followed are the highlights.
You may have heard on the news the Victorian government is planning on charging an entry fee for the 12 Apostles and adjoining NP because of the upgrades happening, I think we stumbled upon a splash of cash at the โblowholeโ.
We see a sign to Loch Ard Cemetery and find our way up the path. The Loch Ard sank here in 1878, with the loss of 52 lives only 4 bodies were recovered to be later buried here. Since then the locals have used it.
Finally the 12 Apostles.

The following video is an amalgamation of several short videos of this amazing NP. The video is longer than I would normally post and the sound quality is poor because of the strong winds.
Whilst in this area we have visited other places but thatโs for another blog.
