Michael and Pam's Travels Our European Motorhome Adventures and other Travels

Cape Town Day2, South Africa ๐Ÿ‡ฟ๐Ÿ‡ฆ 2025

Date : 26th March 2025

Travelled : Uber here, Uber there

Visited : The Mocaa, Table Mountain and Oranjezicht City Market. ย

Stayed : Pullman City Centre, Cape Town

We had to fend for ourselves for dinner last night and missed being gently rocked to sleep.

Our room has a small Illy coffee maker which gets us started. Then our usual morning walk just a different city. The Pullman breakfast is very good but doesnโ€™t come with a good morning and have a nice day, Zuiderdam style.

Table Mountain is clear during our walk but by the time breakfast is done it has clouded over. So a quick change of plans we jump the next free shuttle to the V&A to visit the Zeitz MOCAA or Museum of Contemporary Art Africa. Itโ€™s located in the old silo district of what is now the V&A.

At Rand250 pp or A$20 where soon inside and amazed. Described as a post industrial conversion it is a stunning piece of design and engineering.

From an art point of view we probably prefer the great masters or the post-impressionists than contemporary art, but we enjoyed walking through the five levels of galleries.

MOCAA done Table Mountain has cleared so we are soon in a Uber (A$5) to the cable car station. The queue is very long but our express ticket (A$90 pp) lets us bi-pass the queue, so 20 minutes later where on our way up.

The views are panoramic and you need 30 minutes as a minimum to walk the viewing points.

In the cable car we start chatting with a couple ex-South Africans now living in Perth. They recommend visiting Oranjezicht City Farm Market as itโ€™s open on Wednesday evening.

Table Mountain done its another Uber (A$4) back to the Pullman for some R&R.

We catch the 5pm free shuttle to the V&A once again and walk the 1500m to the Oranjezicht market from there. From the outside just a series of marquee roofs but inside a bustle of craft and clothing stalls then pop-up foodie stalls and bars. All this surrounded by covered seating in a Octoberfest style.

Pam falls in love with the South African chenin blanc. So we eat and chat to those we shared a table with it was a fabulous night out.

Back to the Pullman in another Uber (A$4) and we are done, that was our day.
