Michael and Pam's Travels Our European Motorhome Adventures and other Travels

Cygnet, Tasmania ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡บ 2022

Date: 19th February 2022

Travelled: 85 kms from Franklin to Bruny Island, Tasmania.

Visited: Cygnet

Stayed: Bruny Landscapes, $25, S43.19879, E147.38684 ย

Budget: 22 days @ $0 per day.

Must have been a little rain overnight but we didnโ€™t hear it. No wind either so even better. All things being equal it was a good 9 hour kip. Itโ€™s time to move on today, Pam wants a swim, the Jayco is filthy and we havenโ€™t seen a supermarket for a few days. So we pack up the Jayco, do what needs to be done which includes filling the water tanks and make our way north the Huonville.

Arriving in Huonville we do a top up shop at Woolworths, I drop Pam at the pool before taking the Jayco around to the car wash and removed some of Hartz Mountain we collected yesterday. Our jobs done we turn the Jayco for Cygnet and start the beautiful drive along the Huon River.

Found this amazing memorial to Captain Clinch who died in Sydney in 1875, near the pool in Huonville.

The drive to Cygnet is very scenic with views of the Huon and numerous strawberry and cherry farms. Soon enough we arrive in Cygnet find a parking spot and head off for a walk.

Cygnet has a reputation as a dreadlocked arty sort of community, but on a Saturday it a very popular tourist stop. Lots of coffee shops and antique come junk shops. Anyway Cygnet done and we continue around the peninsula to Kettering. The drive continues to be interesting.

Soon enough we arrive at Kettering just as a ferry is coming in. So we roll straight into the queue, pay our $68 (which includes return) for the 15 minute crossing to Bruny.
