Michael and Pam's Travels Our European Motorhome Adventures and other Travels

The Sunshine Coast. Australia 🇦🇺 2021

Date: 21st April 2021

Travelled: 124 kilometres from Bribie Island to Coolum Beach in Queensland

Visited: Coolum Beach.

Stayed: Coolum Beach Holiday Park, $55 per night, all services.  S26.52735, E153.09153

Budget:

After loading the bikes and having a swim in caravan park pool, we do a final tidy up and depart Bribie Island. Our loose plan was to continue north on the M1 once again but turn for Caloundra and drive the coast road staying at Noosa. It proves to be loose but adaptable when we find the riverside caravan park in Noosa is booked out so Coolum Beach will do just as nicely.

Crossing the bridge back to the mainland was slow behind this clunker.

Back on the M1 is not always relaxing.

The drive north along the coast from Caloundra is one long built up area. It’s hard to notice the change from Maroochydore to Mooloolaba any more. Homes, shops and industrial estates line the road only broken by the odd park. The 37 kilometre drive is very slow, lots of traffic and traffic lights. Where glad to finally arrive in Coolum Beach.

Driving down into Coolum Beach

We book in at The Coolum Beach Holiday Park and the manager kindly offers us a beachfront site. Once we’ve settled, we walk the 10 metres to the beach and spend an hour or so swimming and surfing. In the late afternoon we walk the shops before going to the Surf Club, making a booking for dinner.

Must be time for a drink and dinner.

As you can see Coolum Beach Surf Club has a fabulous outlook and the food was good as well.

So that was our day on the Sunshine Coast…
