Cannot say we had the best nights sleep in the ferry car-park in Rathmullan. An impromptu game of soccer started over on the beach about 3am. Got over that just in time for two seagulls apparently the size of emus to commence mating on the roof of the Hymer at 4.30am.
So we have a little lie in this morning. Our ferry doesnโt depart until 10.40am, so thereโs plenty of time for a long walk, service the Hymer, breakfast and a chat with our Irish neighbours before joining the queue.
Driving the Inishowen Peninsula today should see us conclude the Wild Atlantic Way . It finishes at the Northern Ireland border and we plan on making Derry tonight.
As we approach Londonderry to use its English name we cross into Northern Ireland and our tour of the Wild Atlantic Way concludes. We have completed 1950 kms from Kinsale in the south to Derry in the north experiencing the amazing coastlines and panoramic scenery of the west coast. We did by-pass the Sheepโs Head and Dingle Peninsula on our way as well as a myriad of minor stops at small viewing points. I would recommend it to anyone (not driving their own motorhome), but the road surfaces on occasions are enough to ruin your day. Still we enjoyed it all the same.
