After walking around Geiranger for an hour looking at the touristy shop we head up the mountain on the Trollstigen section of the TR11.
The GPS tells the story.
We come down the mountain again to cross a ferry at Eidsdal.
Passing through the small town of Valldal we spot this replica Viking boat. So we park and walk over for a look. Little disappointed with the outboard motor, Vikings didn’t seem like the Suzuki Outboard type of guys to me.At Gudbrandsjellet we find this interesting rest stop and viewing area. There are a series of long walkways that cross back and forth over the stream.
The walkways all terminate at a platform overlooking the main falls. We find this picnic area by a stream at Ovstestรธlent and decide to call it a day.
A couple of times today on the steeper descents I have had an unusual feel, back through the brake pedal. My experience tells me the Hymer is fast running out of meat on the front brake pads. It still pulls up quickly enough but its a matter of damaging the discs which is something we want to avoid. We have the Trollstigen pass to deal with yet, so we will give a no brakes descent a go.
The information panel at Ovstestรธlen, you can read about it yourself.
It’s clear enough for a walk in the morning so we wander about the walker’s cabins and along the stream.Amongst other things we find this old bridge Circa 1891 according to the sign.On the road again the road climbs steadily. We have left the trees behind. It’s very barren up this high but the mountain tops grow more pronounced.

The Trollstigen car park is full of motorhomes. The Trollstigen Visitor Centre and artificial cascadesPam hanging out on the walkway to the viewing platform. One of 3 viewing points that overhang the cliff below. You can see why it’s popular.OK looks easy enough without brakes.

Well as you can see we made it without any drama (or using the brakes).
