As we start our way north through Norway its logical to travel along as many of the National Tourists Routes possible without going too far out of our way.  As Preikestolen is near the start of TR2 (Oanes Ferry) we will follow it’s route north to Rรธldal.

An extract of our route from the tourist map
It will be a day of tunnels today, should have counted them.
Thought this picture was worth it, that is blue sky, sort of.
Our first stop this morning is ร…rdel.  The Old Church in ร…rdel was built in 1619.  It has had a couple of additions over the years, being replaced by the new Kirke in 1919.  Pam puts it excellent condition down to only being used on Sundays.
Its interior brings the tourists, having been decorated by both primative unknown artists and famous artisains as well.  It is a visual treat.
Looking around the walls and ceiling the saints, apostles and stories from the bible can be found.
The Altar piece is the only really formal work in the old Church.
A caste iron headstone fallen in the graveyard of the Old Church.
We lunch near the ferry before crossing to Nesvick.
Rolling forward to be swallowed by the ferry to Nesvick.  The Josenfjord in the distance.
We pass several salmon farms on the fjord as we head north toward Sauda.
We stop for lunch on the quayside at Hรฅlandsosen. The Hymer is tired so we all have a little nap in the sun.
The Norwegian’s love a bridge, we travel over this one a few minutes later.
I look at the waterfall while Pam calls out tunnel !
Our next stop is Svandalsfossen, a few kilometres from Sauda.  We seemed to have missed our walk today so Pam insists on taking the walk to the top of the fall. 540 steps !
So about 300 steps later we are about half-way.  As you can see there is a lot of spray in the air, so about another hundred steps Pam says its getting a bit slippery.  So we decide to stay dry and retreat.

We thought this was cute !

Norway

So we find a parking spot on the marina in Sauda, the sun has come out and a glass of beer and wine and we just enjoy the scenery.
Our last stop on the TR2 is a small mining museum just 10 kilometres north of Sauda.  Its an interesting walk as much as anything and we enjoy the scenery as we walk up the gorge.
One of the elevated buildings house a small museum which was full of odd artifacts, but the photos and notes explaining the history this site were the most interesting.
