Travelled: 4 kilometres from the Coliseum carpark to the Marina Stellplatz in Oslo.
Visted: Norwegian National Opera House (free), Museum of Contemorary Art, Norway’s Resistance Museum NOK30pp, Viking Ship Museum (NOK80pp)
Stayed: Oslo Marina Stellplatz, all services, NOK300. N59.92887 E10.70566
It may seem a little strange to only travel 4 kilometres to relocate, but I’ll try to explain. We arrived in Oslo late yesterday afternoon, if we went directly to the stellplatz we would have had to pay NOK300 (about A$46) just to park over night, as they charge for the night. As such we stayed in the Colliseum car park for NOK50, which was then free after 8pm, saving about A$37. But the Colliseum car-park, charges NOK25 per hour after 9am, so if your staying all day your better off at the stellplatz over a full day and night.
Its all a bit of a mystery to me but Pam has conducted a cost benefit analysis and it’s better not to argue.
Norway
So we are parked in this huge stellplatz holding 250+ motorhomes and its almost full. On the edge of the marina facing the bay, so there is a view if your in the front few rows. There is a bus stop just outside the stellplatz and we are soon on the 160 heading into the city. In less than 10 minutes, the bus driver gives us a wave and suggests we walk down from here.
Its well after lunch-time as we walk back down from the fortress to the quay for a bite to eat and a leg rest. Pam found this place that did a health style wraps, so enough said about lunch. From wharf 3 we go catch the Bygdรธy Ferry across the bay. Bygdรธy is a peninsula on the west side of Oslo that also has a number of museums and an extensive park.
Well that’s Oslo. From the Bygdรธy its only a relatively short distance back to the marina stellplatz but it’s still another ticket and 2 buses. We feel we have had a good look around and spending another NOK300 without something specific to accomplish would be silly.
