Domburg, The Netherlands 2016 ๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ฑ

Travelled : 64 kilometres from Middelburg to Roompot, Zeeland. The Netherlands

Visited : Domburg and the Sea Dykes

Stayed : Roompot Camping, North Beveland, Zeeland.  โ‚ฌ14 all the usual services. N51.58918 E03.72157  (P4Night site)

It was a bit of a lay-day in camper car world today.  We had to vacate our Aire in Middelburg by 7am (the signs say the site is closing for two weeks for maintenance).  So it was a very early start and we are on the road well before 7.  We decide to drive to nearby Domburg and have a look at the sea dykes that protect Zeeland from the North Sea.

Netherlands

Arriving in Domburg we find a parking spot (another park and pay โ‚ฌ1.50) and walk through the village.  They are just setting up street stalls for a market along the Main Street.  We don’t see anything very interesting in the food department so walk on through to the beach, just a hundred metres further.

The pathway and dyke looking south-west from Domburg. Not many in swimming just yet.
Look to the north-east this time.
Looking back toward the village, another park and pay in the foreground.

We can see several motorhome on the sea wall further south, so we go for a drive to check it out.

Looks like a nice spot for lunch.  Westkapelle is the most western point of the Zeeland peninsula. This section of the sea wall faces west, it’s much higher than other sections we have seen and fully stabilized.
You can guess what this is ?
After lunch in the sun it’s time for a nap. A couple of hours later there are people, cars and motorhomes everywhere. There are lots of people swimming and paddle boarding.

Our neighbors tell us we cannot stay the night here, as they lock the gates and secure the area at 9pm.  By early evening it’s time to find a spot for the night and we head north-east crossing a causeway into North Beveland and stop for the night.  It’s a paid Aire at the front of a huge campsite, the cheapest in this area.  It’s not easy to free camp in The Netherlands but we will do our best.
