Michael and Pam's Travels Our European Motorhome Adventures and other Travels

Hall in Tirol, Austria ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡น 2022

Date: 28th August 2022

Travelled: 100 kms from Krimml to Hall in Tirol

Visited:  Hall in Tirol

Stayed: Camping Hall, โ‚ฌ22, N47.28390, E11.49580ย ย

Budget: 95 days @ โ‚ฌ108 per day

It rained all night in Krimml. The campsite which is high up above the village is shrouded in mist. By 9 in the morning with the rain still tumbling down our walk to the waterfall is looking unlikely, the weather forecast provides no optimism so we pack the Hymer ready for the road.

The fact that Pam has managed to transmit her lurgi to me only makes matters worse.

We continue west on the B165, before turning north on the B169 which I cannot recommend because itโ€™s a toll road and the lady at the booth insists we pay โ‚ฌ10.50. The roads nothing special but it appears to run through a National Park. Itโ€™s Sunday, thereโ€™s lots of traffic so itโ€™s a slow drive to the Hall. On the plus side, it stops raining.

Hall in Tirol, Tirol, Austria

Why are we at the Hall in Tirol, well itโ€™s on our way and reasonably priced by Austrian standards. Secondly the stellplatz adjoins the local pool which is heated and we get free entry. Lastly Innsbruck is only 6 kms further along, which weโ€™ve already visited on a previous trip to Austria.

You can read more about the Hall and its history of salt mining at the link above.

After an hours rest which leaves me feeling worse rather than better, we walk up into Hall for a look around. Why do I refer to it as Hall rather than its formal name, because all the local road signs refer to it as Hall ?

Hard to get a decent picture of the Pfarrkirche of St Nikolaus given its size and limited space around it. But its murals and frescoes are beautiful.

At this stage I really just want to get back to the Hymer and overdose on cold and flue capsules, so we head back to the campsite.

However in fairness the Hall has a lovely old town with lots of little laneways and open spaces, cafes and restaurants.

Pam has her free pool entry card ready for a morning swim but somehow I doubt Iโ€™ll be joining her.
