Date: 2nd August 2022
Travelled: 125 kms from Djúpivogur to Reyðarfjörður
Visited: Driving Route 1 and Reyðarfjörður Þ ð
Stayed: Camping Reyðarfjörður, Isk3000, N65.03400, W14.24020
Budget: 69 days @ €108 per day
A little drizzle on the roof last night at some stage, but it’s all sun in the morning. I woke around midnight and it was nearly dark so summer is passing here in Iceland. All that aside we are on our last couple of days here and we have a date with the ferry on Thursday morning.
There are no more wow tourist spot between here and Seyðisfjörður, which is OK as the tourist buses are now behind us. The scenery is spectacular enough.
Where not in a hurry so we ready the Hymer once more and drive around the corner to the local pool. The Isk800 for two seniors seems reasonable enough and we do some laps. It’s only 16.5 m long so thats a lot of laps, so we settle for a km. Then some spa time until where cooked.
Pam catches a quick picture of the old church and the new church as we roll out of Djúpivogur.
We have a quick drive through Fáskrúdsfjörður and check out its campsite. It’s obviously too hard to type out several times in a blog so we move on. It’s only a long tunnel and a few extra kms to Reyðarfjörður which is obviously much easier to type.
Reydarfjordur, Austurland, Iceland
Reyðarfjörður has a port and a couple of substantial fishing boats, a large supermarket and a couple of cafe come restaurant. The campsite is spread over a few acres and we seemed to be the only ones here, but that will change as afternoon turns to evening.
Pam goes for a church and wildlife hunt whilst I study tomorrow’s itinerary.
So that was our day.

Beautiful countryside
Beautiful countryside again 😍
Scenery is just amazing. Not sure about ‘Pam’s friend’……. didn’t look too friendly to me.
The log cabin looks like it was made in a 3D printer
