Date: 26-27th April 2021
Travelled: 50 kilometres from Rockhampton to Yeppoon
Visited: Yeppoon, Queensland.
Stayed: Beachside Caravan Park, Yeppoon. All services. S23.11976, E150.74922
Budget:
Have never seen as many traffic lights as there are in Rockhampton. Even with no traffic it takes more than 15 minutes to drive the 3-4 kms across town. There seems to be no sequencing and the lights change like treacle in winter time, especially if thereโs a turn arrow.
The turn for Yeppoon is only 4 kilometres (12 sets of lights) north of Rocky. The road is dual carriageway for the first 10 kms. So itโs a short drive today and the day is glorious.

We soon find the Beachside Caravan Park, itโs just north of downtown Yeppoon. The lady checks us, and we soon set up overlooking the water with a nice view of the Keppel Islands. The remainder of the day is spent taking in the view, swimming and relaxing. We have an evening in and a noisy night in bed as the wind picks up overnight.
The wind subsided at some stage and we wake to a beautiful morning once again. After coffee and fruit we head off to explore Yeppoon.
Our walk finished we have another swim before Pam does a few loads of washing. The afternoon passes as we shuffle washing on the clothes line. Thereโs a nice breeze all afternoon so the washing is in and away before the shadows lengthen.
Pam has loosened the purse strings so we walk into Yeppoon for a drink and dinner. We find the main shopping strip which somehow we missed this morning, unfortunately all the fashion shops were now closed. Luckily the pubs were still open. We eventually decide on a Chinese take-away and make our way back to the Jayco.
The Pink Moon rises over Yeppoon. (The iPhone 12 takes amazing low light photos).
