Travelled : From Sydney to London Heathrow and on to Rustington
Visited : Church of the English Martyrs, Worthing Pier and Brighton’s Royal Pavilion
Stayed : With Terry and Lelia at Rustington.
It has been a sharp start to winter in Taren Point. After a mild autumn the weather suddenly turned very cold at home and our thoughts turn to our second home, our Hymer in the UK and heading off to Europe. Many of the other motorhome bloggers we follow have already been to Spain or The Spit as we languish in our icy prison.
Our last week at home has been a long series of goodbyes to our children and grand children, old friends and neighbours. We give Jessie (our long suffering Staffie) a pat and apologise for leaving her with Tom and head for the airport. The fight with Singapore Airlines departs on time and we catch a nap on our way to Singapore. A nap means different things to different people, to me an hours our so to Pam 6 hours or so.
Arriving in Singapore our connecting is delayed and we depart for LHR more than 2 hours late. It’s been a long day and we manage a couple more naps before breakfast and the Captain announces our approach. I am a little surprised Pam is still hungry given the number of Temazepam she has been munching.
We are spending a couple of days with Pam’s cousin Lelia and her husband Terry in Rustington before we pick up the Hymer. We normally meet Terry and Lelia for lunch on the day we pick up the Hymer and the day we drop it off. We love our Hymer and have always been appreciated Terry’s efforts in finding her for us. They live in an area known as the Poet’s Estate all the streets name after famous English poets.

After a long day of sightseeing we retire to Terry’s favourite pub and the rest of the evening just glides by. The sun doesn’t set till 9.30 pm and we are still a little out of sinc. In the morning we pack up and depart for Bosham. We arrive at Church Farm thanking Terry and Lelia for their Hospitality, it’s an emotional time seeing her again, she’s a little dusty but it’s great to see her again.
We spend the next few hours giving her a good scrub, Pam busily packing away her extensive ensemble adding to the extensive ensemble left behind last year. I remove the external TV antenna and fit the new 4G internet system. We pay our bill, say goodbye to Bosham and head west on another adventure…

Glad to see arrived safely. First blog of many more. Back in Dubai safely and had a great time.
Sounds like a wonderful start to your holiday Michael and Pam. Looking forward to hearing many more of your adventures along the way.
We enjoyed the photos of your last trip very much. So sorry we couldn’t catch up before we left.

Thanks for your comments, always 30 kgs heading to Europe and 20 kgs coming home for Pam. Have enjoyed your blog again this year. If your up Sydney way we will be back in late October, let us know and we will organise something. M&P
Sounds much better than Sydney!
Thanks Wendy, please give Bruce our regards. Glad to see the tail end of Sydney until it warms up for summer. mind you it’s cool in the mornings here, but warms up nicely in the afternoon.
Welcome baaaaack from far away ! 🙂 Europe seems so much closer than Taren Point when it comes to hearing from you. I am really looking forwsard to your postcards from “over there”. For health reasons, my annual Paris sejourn has been cancelled this year.
What is your plan?
Friends/neighbours of mine want to emulate you, and wander through them’ far away lands as you do. How can I hitch them onto your always highly interesting travel reports? Should I just give them the link?
I hope you DID vote before leaving the icicles of Australia? ??? !!!
Be careful (which you won’t) and travel savely (which you will hopefully do, despite the kamikaze tendencies of Michael….keep him in check, Pam, will you !!!! ;))
Rita, lovely to hear from you sorry your missing out on your beloved Paris this year. We will be in France for a few days after we depart England, so we will have a 1664 and a nice camembert thinking of you.
SEnd your neighbours email address and I’ll add them to the list.
Glad you have arrived to start your new adventures. looking forward to your travel blogs, we arrived back in Dubai safely from Turkey.
Glad to hear your both back safely. We will compare Turkey notes later in the year. Pam and I are sitting in this little country pub in the far south west of IOW enjoying a beer and SB. Plan on walking to the Pinnacles tomorrow after we sober up. No point rushing is there. Love M&P
Mike was that Leila that was bit dusty the next day after night at the pub and needed a good scrub or were you talking about the van. Maybe it is just the few beers I have had that made me read it differently. Jim
Hope to see you soon!
The papers for cruise till now did not arrive by post…. When do you expect them?
Big hug from us
Jeanne &Martin
Thanks for your response Jeanne. Not sure when they will send out the documents. I will check with the company later in the month. Looking forward to catching up.
Great to see you back on the road. ENJOY! Now in Hungary. We enjoy your stories.
Have only seen the one blog from you guys since you left Italy ? Hope your travelling well and we may catch up in a couple of months.
Great to hear you arrived safely.
Last weeks rain delayed any more work next door until a small machine arrived yesterday to clear trees and plants – more damage to our fence which is yet to be repaired.
Brighton pier brings back found memories of our train trip down from London on a warm summer’s day.
Keep up the photos and blog.
Take care – Gaye
