Another smooth nightโs sailing. Pam and I have had our coffee and catch dawnโs first light (pictured above) as we do our usual laps around the promenade deck. Still an hour from docking in Langkawi we continue to pass many small islands on our starboard side.
The Langkawi Island is part of an archipelago of 99 islands, it stands 30 kms off the coast of Malaysia.
We have booked a half day, โBest of Langkawiโ tour today. So after breakfast itโs off to the bus, our first stop a traditional rice farm. We found the rice farm fascinating, firstly there was an old fellow gives a demonstration on how they process coconuts, de-husk then producing coconuts milk. We had no idea there are male and female coconuts ! Then it was on to growing rice from seed, transplanting the shoots twice as they grow. All this with water buffalo wandering around. Not sure we enjoyed the rice museum quite that much but it was all very interesting.

From the rice farm itโs back on the bus for another 15 minutes to the SkyCab. Basically a 6 person gondola to the top of mount Gunung Machinchang. We have express tickets so we somewhat by-pass the crowd and find ourselves on our way up.

Back down the mountain and back on the bus our guide stops for a photo opportunity at a rich manโs marina, but not worth a photo on our blog. I should mention Langkawi is a duty free tax haven and a cheap place to keep your super yacht or lambo. 15 minutes later we are back at the port walking back to the Zuiderdam.
We enjoyed Langkawi, little traffic, no real crowds and the beaches and water seem very clean. So that was our day.
