Travelled: 0 kms Bus around Grindelwald in Switzerland
Visited: Grindelwald and First
Stayed: Camping Eigernordwand, โฌ44, N46.62180, E08.01590
Budget: 109 days @ โฌ93 per day
Last nightโs BBQ with the Kiwis came to an abrupt end when an old lady limped over to our gathering and told us in no uncertain terms we were too noisy. She was wearing some sort of complicated leg brace which had us all feeling a little intimidated. She hobbled away as we all looked at each other thinking 18 minutes passed 8 pm must be late in Switzerland.
Another clear cool morning greets us. Our plan today is to catch a bus to the Firstbahn terminal and take that gondola to the top and do some exploring.
The free bus has at the Firstbahn terminal in 10 minutes. Our 3 day pass includes travel on the Firstbahn. Itโs an old gondola holding only 6 people. Itโs a long 25 minute ride to First. The perspex screens are very scratched so no chance of a great photo going up, but once where there thereโs plenty of great scenery.

Before walking up the hill we do the โCliff Walkโ, probably not good if you have a thing for heights.

At the end of the cliff walk there is a viewing platform that hangs over the cliff, so we join the queue. Thirty minutes later, after watching self obsessed people, touch up their makeup and brushing their hair before taking 50 photos of themselves we take a quick video and ask the guy behind us to take a photo, pictured below.

The cliff walk done we make our way up the hill. While a steep walk at 2,300 m may be good cardio if your 30 years old we found it hard work. Our NZ neighbour suggested the first ten minutes of the walk provided the best views, but we did a kilometre which took a lot longer than ten minutes.
We managed a couple more photos but nothing more interesting than what we had taken earlier.

So we wander back to the Firstbahn and ride it back down into Grindelwald. We have a very late lunch before catching the bus back to the terminal and walking up the hill to the Hymer. That was our last day in Grindelwald and the Eiger. A new adventure tomorrow.
