Our drive to Pontevedra is relatively short, especially as we ended up on a tollway for 10kms. We struggle to identify the Spanish tollways from the road signs or our road atlas. As long as the booth is staffed we are only charged as a car, โฌ1.35. However on the automated booth we are classed as a light truck โฌ5.65.
The comments about Pontevedra on our data-base are good but its a popular town and itโs recommended to arrive early to ensure a spot in the aire. So we drive straight to the aire and take up one of the two vacant spots.
Pontevedra, Galicia, Spain
We follow the little red line on the map, mind you we do favour the odd shortcut.
We stop to take in this lovely bit of street art. Looking in the shop window I can see 10 chickens turning slowly in a rotisserie!
Across the road, the municipal market.
It was an interesting wander, lots of seafood, meats and flowers.
Just thought this made a nice photo.
Pam stands on the Plaza de Alonso de Fonseca, the Real Basilica Menor de Santa Maria la Mayor in the background.A quick photo inside the Basilica.
The Old Town Hall
The Ruins of the Convent of Santo Domingo, which the sign said should be open today, but someone forgot to unlock the gate.
More of the Pontes of Pontevedra.
Itโs mid afternoon by the time weโve completed the tourist walk around the old town. We return to the Hymer via the chicken shop and get half a roast chicken and potatoes. We overdo our nana nap a little and decide on a night in tonight with our chicken. After all we have had the last two evenings out late, in the tapas bars. That was our day in Pontevedra.
