Michael and Pam's Travels Our European Motorhome Adventures and other Travels

Perth, Western Australia 2023

Date: 28-30th April 2023

Travelled: 50 kms, from Fremantle to Perth in Western Australia

Visited:  Perth

Stayed: Perth Airport CP, $55, S31.99144, E115.99734ย ย

Budget: days @ $ per day

Legs still a little stiff after yesterdayโ€™s long ride, we wake to a beautiful morning. Looks like we should have been going to Rottnest today. However after a decade of touring in many different countries you come to the realisation, you cannot buy the weather.

Our tour of WA is drawing to a close and todayโ€™s relocation to a CP near Perth our last for this trip. Handing over the Jayco comes with the responsibility of getting it as clean and tidy as possible for Julia and Greg.

On our way we need to find a place to wash the Jayco (which wasnโ€™t easy), find a camping supplier for some Thetford products and fill with fuel for $1.70 a litre the cheapest for the entire trip.

The CP is neat and tidy but very expensive. Itโ€™s 30 minutes to the city on the #270 bus for $2.20 pp (seniors). Once we arrive at the bus terminal in the city we transfer to a free CAT bus. There are 4 CAT services but we jump a blue which wanders central Perth just to get our bearings.

After doing a lap on the CAT we jump off and walk the Hay Street Mall and adjoining streets. Pam has been desperate for some retail therapy, so I follow obediently hoping whatever it is fits into our bags for the flight home.

Obviously finding something worth a photos is a bit easier after the bus ride and we return to wandering mode.

The Old Town Hall

Government House circa 1863, the adjoining gardens are something special, but we can only look over the fence.

Our exploring concludes at the Elizabeth Quay precinct. A marina and ferry terminal provide access to the Swan River and various entertainment and function centres. For the last 30 minutes we have been looking for a pub for lunch without success. So we settle at a waterfront restaurant which provided a wonderful view. The food and drink was as good as the view, but a lot more expensive than the great pub lunches and atmosphere we enjoyed in Fremantle.

We make our way back to the bus terminal and the 270. The rest of our stay in Perth is taken up cleaning and getting ourselves sorted for the flight back to Sydney.

A quick summary, weโ€™ve travelled 8958 kms from home in Sydney to Perth on this tour. Having enjoyed several stops in South Australia, experienced the Nullarbor and given south western Western Australia a pretty good shake. Hope youโ€™ve enjoyed coming with us.
