{"id":9295,"date":"2017-10-05T17:37:58","date_gmt":"2017-10-05T17:37:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/?p=9295"},"modified":"2019-05-25T06:13:36","modified_gmt":"2019-05-24T20:13:36","slug":"blumburg-germany-%f0%9f%87%a9%f0%9f%87%aa-2017","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/?p=9295","title":{"rendered":"Blumburg, Germany 2017 \ud83c\udde9\ud83c\uddea"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><b>Travelled: &nbsp;68 kilometres from \u00dcberlingen to Blumburg, Germany.<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><b>Visited: &nbsp;Blumburg<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><b>Stayed: &nbsp;Blumburg Stellplatz \u20ac8.50 including electricity, all the usual services. &nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/JXeoRULC1jUt9vc16\">N47.83977, E08.54256<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We drive out of \u00dcberlingen, the sun is shining and the birds are singing. &nbsp;But we arrive at the first intersection with no indicators (or blinkers in the Australian vernacular). &nbsp;This following the no head light a couple of days ago. &nbsp;I am a little pissed, Pam asks \u2018will this cost money ?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I cannot see the point in driving back to Ravenburg (the headlight solution), so we drive on to Singen to a Fiat Commercial Dealer. &nbsp;It\u2019s a surprisingly large town, we drive past several car dealerships including Ferrari, Porsche and Mazeratti before we turn into the Fiat Dealership with Pam\u2019s arm as an indicator. &nbsp;They take it into the service bay straight way and get to pulling the column and dash apart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A couple of hours later, we are told a fuse within the steering column shroud was not correctly engaged. &nbsp;The indicators are now working properly, I remain sceptical and pay another \u20ac107. &nbsp;We have lost a few hours, so we revise our planned destination and set the GPS for Blumburg.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Blumburg_1.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>The stellplatz in Blumburg is your typical German stop. &nbsp;Plenty of room and a nice view of the countryside.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Blumburg_2.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>Blumburg is just your typical German village perhaps. &nbsp;I\u2019ts nothing fancy or ancient but its an interesting walk for an hour.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Blumburg_3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"825\" height=\"1100\"\/><figcaption>We find a small tourist office in the Rathaus. &nbsp;The young woman welcomes us to town and gives us a little map of highlights. &nbsp;Our first highlight is Saint Katherine\u2019s Church.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Blumburg_5.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>We are surprised to find the church unlocked, so we pock our heads in for a quick look. &nbsp;The Chior are having a practice and wave us to come in.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Blumburg Chior\" width=\"1140\" height=\"641\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/9Kbyvecd3s4?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Blumburg_6.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"825\" height=\"1100\"\/><figcaption>In a small graveyard aside the church we find this memorial to WW1<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Blumburg_8.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"825\" height=\"1100\"\/><figcaption>According to our highlights booklet the Schlackenbuck dates back to 1661. &nbsp;Closer examination shows the tower dates back to that period. &nbsp;The rest had collapse being rebuilt 20 years ago.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>We have had an hours walk, passing the Aldi across from the stellplatz on our way back. &nbsp;We pop in and to our surprise find a packet of \u2018crackers\u2019, they will go nicely with some French brie and some English chedder in the fridge. &nbsp;Germany has very limited cracker options. &nbsp;So its beer, wine and cheese night in the Hymer tonight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Its a very quiet night, but chilly morning in Blumburg. &nbsp;However more importantly the headlights and blinkers are working, so its a good start.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>Michael and Pam<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div id=\"bpp_credits\" style=\"clear: both;
