{"id":9164,"date":"2017-10-02T13:01:33","date_gmt":"2017-10-02T13:01:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/?p=9164"},"modified":"2019-05-24T07:52:06","modified_gmt":"2019-05-23T21:52:06","slug":"mittenwald-germany-%f0%9f%87%a9%f0%9f%87%aa-2017","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/?p=9164","title":{"rendered":"Mittenwald, Germany 2017 \ud83c\udde9\ud83c\uddea"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Travelled: &nbsp;68 kilometres from Wattens, Austria to Mittenwald, Germany<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Visited: &nbsp;Mittenwald, Hoherbahn cable car &nbsp;\u20ac27.50 pp<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Stayed: &nbsp;Mittenwald stellplatz \u20ac12, all the usual services. &nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/DVNMoazPZqv9xFZm7\">N47.43827, E11.26451<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We depart Innsbrook on the 171, Dave and Britt both agree its a more seenic route back into Germany than the E45\/177. &nbsp;So we dawdle along the 171 before turning north at Telfs. &nbsp;The road is steep, but there is little traffic, so its more relaxed than dealing with truck and fast cars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>Mittenwald is just on the German side of the frontier with Austria. &nbsp;Our plan is to meet fellow Australian motorhome travellers Rob and Krys at the stellplatz. &nbsp;We have corresponded with Rob and Krys for about a year now. &nbsp;Things fell into place we were all in southern Germany and it was only a few kilometres extra for our second Aussie catch up in as many days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Telfs_1.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>The 171 is a very pretty drive&#8230;<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>We meet Rob and Krys at the stellpatz and start chatting away like we have known each other for years. &nbsp;I could go on but after months on the road its good to babble on with someone who has had similar adventures. &nbsp;Next thing you know it\u2019s time for a beer and wine. &nbsp;Rob and Krys have been chatting about what a nice village&nbsp;<span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: Helvetica;\">Mittenwald is, so we go for a wander.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Mittenwald_1.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>Mittenwald proves to be a Bavarian post card village. It seem that a famous violin maker live and worked here.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Without boring you with details we decide on a night in, the BBQ come out, the drinks flow as well as the chit chat. &nbsp;So it was a late night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Mittenwald_7.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>Not so bright and early the next morning we decide to take the nearby cable car to the top of the Mount Hoher. &nbsp;There is a walk around the summit that takes about an hour, which is probably about what we can manage.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Mittenwald_8.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>It\u2019s up there somewhere. At around 1500 metres its not that high, but steep on the ascent.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Mittenwald_9.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>View from the top chalet into the old glacier.
