{"id":9118,"date":"2017-09-30T14:53:21","date_gmt":"2017-09-30T14:53:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/?p=9118"},"modified":"2019-05-24T07:44:29","modified_gmt":"2019-05-23T21:44:29","slug":"innsbrook-austria-%f0%9f%87%a6%f0%9f%87%b9-2017","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/?p=9118","title":{"rendered":"Innsbrook, Austria 2017 \ud83c\udde6\ud83c\uddf9"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><b>Travelled: &nbsp;84 kilometres from Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany to Wattens, Austria<\/b>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><b>Visited: &nbsp;Walkbahn \u20ac14pp, Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Swarovski Factory in Wattens and Innsbrook, Austria.<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><b>Stayed: &nbsp;Behind Britt\u2019s Dads place in Wattens, free<\/b>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A very quiet evening in the stellplatz in Garmisch, but a cold morning followed. &nbsp;After several days of warm sunny weather its a little overcast this morning. &nbsp;After our coffee and fruit we drive down to the laundromat and pick up the washing, which has been washed, dried and folded for \u20ac10. &nbsp;Pam and the English lady who owns the laundromat have a good old natter whilst I keep an eye out for the Parking Stassi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On our last trip through Garmsich we caught the trains and gondola to the Zugspitze, whilst the Wank is not as high or exciting, this year we plan on taking the cable car to mount Wank and doing the walk back down the mountain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/Wank_1.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>The Wankbahn (cable car) adjoins the stellplatz in Garmisch. &nbsp;So we part with our hard earned Euros and purchase 2 single, one way. &nbsp;Checking it out on line its only 5\u00b0 at the summit so we dress for cold and wet. &nbsp;Pam throws in some foot cream and a hair dryer just in case.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/Wank_2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"825\" height=\"1100\"\/><figcaption>Looking up the mountain as we ascend to 1800 metres.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"The Wankbahn, Garmisch-Partenkirchen\" width=\"1140\" height=\"641\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/7Dc1YTn9DZ0?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/Wank_5.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>The view from the top is still spectacular, with great views of Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Austria in the distance. &nbsp;Just in-case your wondering, its the take-off ramp for hang-gliders etc.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/Wank_6.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>So after spending 15 minutes on top of Wank we start the long walk down. The views make it all worthwhile. But as you can see the weather is breaking and we don\u2019t need jackets for long.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Wank_9.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>The walk down takes about 2 hours, lots of steps but there\u2019s plenty to see.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Wank_10.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>We can hear cow bells most of the way down. Every now and then you see them.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>We are back in the Hymer having a late lunch by 2.30pm. &nbsp;Sore knees as usual after a long downhill walk. &nbsp;Anyway we pack up and head for the service point, do what needs to be done before heading off for Austria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Austria_1.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>Crossing the non-existent frontier into Austria \ud83c\udde6\ud83c\uddf9. We have cut through Austria before, but this time for a visit.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Austria_2.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>The scenery just gets better, the trees are changing to yellow and red everywhere.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>We have driven over to Wattens about 18 kilometres west of Innsbrook to meet up with our neigbours Dave and Britt who are holidaying here. &nbsp;Britt\u2019s Dad, Karl lives in Wattens. &nbsp;We park at the back and say our hellos. &nbsp;Half an hour later we are walking up to the Swarovski shop which adjoins the factory here in Wattens. &nbsp;To say the Swarovski factory is huge is an understatement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Wattens_1.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>So here we are at the parklands outside the Swarovski complex, the waterfall head is the Swarovski symbol apparently.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Wattens_2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"825\" height=\"1100\"\/><figcaption>The entranceway in the Swarovski shop through the tunnel ? &nbsp;Anyway long story short we leave the shop a little poorer, but with a happy Pam.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Wattens_4.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>An informal meeting of the Taren Point Social Club at a lovely little restaurant in Wattens. Great food \ud83e\udd58, beer \ud83c\udf7a and wine \ud83c\udf77, not to mention good company. &nbsp;After 3 months away plenty to talk about.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Feeling just a little dull this morning we say our farewells and head into Innsbrook for a visit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Innsbrook_1.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>We get lucky and jag a parking spot on the park near the Old City of Innsbrook. &nbsp;It\u2019s paid parking but reasonable at \u20ac2.10 for 90 minutes.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Innsbrook_2.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>Across the park and through the gate. Did have trouble with the name of this church, the sign said The Spitalskirche ?
