Travelled: 126 kilometres from Stege in Denmark to G\u00fcstrow in Germany (plus another 50klm by ferry).<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Visited: Stege and G\u00fcstrow Schloss \u20ac4.50pp<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stayed: G\u00fcstrow municipal stellplatz, free, but the services cost.  N53.79096, E12.18113<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We wake up to a sunny morning in Stege, still a bit chilly but its early.  After coffee we head off for a quick walk around Stege.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We complete the Scandinavian leg of our adventures today. Our ferry from Gedser to Rostock is booked for 1pm.  So we service the Hymer and continue south.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We cross another long bridge, (our last one in Denmark) to Falster.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Lined up for the ferry in Gedser. Very seamless all this ferry travel. You book and pay online, they scan your number plate as you enter or you show the barcode on your booking, you get a line number to wait in.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Roll on, lock up and you’re away. Farewell Denmark, an hour and a half later we disembark in Rostock, Germany.  During our passage we do some plotting and check the Lonely Planet.  We hadn’t given much thought to our trip south through Germany, looks like we will just see what we find.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

G\u00fcstrow looks interesting and its not too far, so we set the GPS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From our stellplatz in G\u00fcstrow a nice view across the old moat to the Schloss or Palace.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

It’s too late to visit the Schloss today, so we walk up into the centrum and have a look around.  On the square we find PfarrKirke apparently concecrated in 1508. Its closed so we don’t get a look.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Another lovely old building, currently the post office. We go on to find the Vodafone shop and buy a local SIM card and pick up a little something for desert on our way back to the Hymer.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

In the morning we walk back over to the Schloss and pay our hard earned Euros.  The Castle\/Fortress\/Palace was the Royal seat from the 16th Century to 18th Century when they packed up and moved to Schwerin.  See last years blogs.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

G\u00fcstrow Schloss has three floors of fabulous artwork, religous bits and pieces from the surrounding area as well as some examples of the excesses of Royalty.  Such as this 6m long alterpiece relocated from a nearby church after the GDR turned it into a block of flats.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Perhaps Saint George and his dragon are more your style.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

I was quite taken with this piece, however Pam was not so impressed.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

No German Palace is complete without a couple of glass cabinets of muskets, pistols and the odd sword.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n
