{"id":7903,"date":"2017-08-23T05:49:00","date_gmt":"2017-08-23T05:49:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/?p=7903"},"modified":"2019-05-22T17:21:21","modified_gmt":"2019-05-22T07:21:21","slug":"tourist-route-13-helgelandskysten-part-4-norway-%f0%9f%87%b3%f0%9f%87%b4-2017","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/?p=7903","title":{"rendered":"Tourist Route 13 Helgelandskysten (part 4), Norway 2017 \ud83c\uddf3\ud83c\uddf4"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><b>Travelled: 151 kilometres from Braset to L\u00f8ding along TR13 in the Nordeland.<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><b>Visited: The Svartisen Glacier (ferry NOK170pp) and the Maelstrom at Saltstaumen.<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><b>Stayed: L\u00f8ding, near the marina (free), <a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/mYq3Mv98r7enK2CT9\">N67.29644, E14.71639<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>I&#8217;ll start with the map again for reference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/TR13_Tourist_map_again-768x575.png\" alt=\"TR13_Tourist_map_again.png\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>We enjoyed a quiet evening overlooking the Svartisen Glacier. &nbsp;A small ferry operates between Braset and Svartisen, from there it is possible to walk or cycle close to the glacier. &nbsp;So our mission for today is the Svartisen. &nbsp;However there is no need for an early start, its out of season, so the first ferry isn&#8217;t until 11am.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/TR13_Svartisen_1-1.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>A morning photo of the Hymer looking across the fjord to the Svartisen Glacier.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/TR13_Svartisen_2.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>Our ferry awaits. In actual fact there were 20 of us waiting when the ferryman suddenly appears 1 minute before departure time and starts the engine. Don&#8217;t wait to be asked to go on board or you&#8217;ll be left behind.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/TR13_Svartisen_4.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>So here we are crossing the lake, it&#8217;s cold this morning so we donned the Gortex (including fleece liners) long hiking pants and beanies. Pam also has an electric blanket and two hot water-bottles.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/TR13_Svartisen_5.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>In all seriousness this is a beautiful place !<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/TR13_Svartisen_6.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"825\" height=\"1100\"\/><figcaption>Off the ferry, you can walk or take a bicycle. The climb up to the face of the glacier is only short, climbing about 100 metres in the 500 metres path.
