We cruise overnight from Leghorn (Livorno), again the seas have been flat. \u00a0Pam and I walk out on deck to see we are standing off Naples awaiting our pushback to the dock. \u00a0There is a heavy mist in the bay, we can only just make out Capri across the bay. \u00a0It’s already very warm and we have decided to make our own way to Capri rather than do an organised tour.<\/p>\n

We are off down the gangway as soon as the ship clears the authorities. \u00a0We have done a quick google and found where to buy our tickets. \u00a0Anyway we quickly make our way and join the queue, which is moving very slowly toward the ticket window. \u00a0The scheduled time for the ferry passes and we still don’t have our tickets, long story short there is a bit of yelling from someone out the back and we suddenly have our tickets and we just make the ferry. \u00a0On the ferry a tout is selling a bus tour of the Island for \u20ac10, we risk two tickets.<\/p>\n

The ferry takes about 30 minutes and we dock in the harbour and follow the little man. \u00a0Apparently the bus leaves in 30 minutes and we wander dockside and have a coffee. \u00a0Good to his word the bus arrives and we set off on our bus. \u00a0We basically work out its a jump on jump off bus as we turn onto the Via Marina Grande. \u00a0Our Tout has recommended going onto Anacapri first and working our way back. \u00a0The road is as narrow and winding as we have ever scene. \u00a0As our bus meets another vehicle, both slow to a walking pace and pass each other with a few inches to spare. \u00a0However the view is great, however it is limited by the mist.<\/p>\n

Once in Anacapri we make our way to the chair lift. \u00a0It appears to be a remnant from a ski field in the sixties. \u00a0Anyway we have ride to the top, travelling over people’s back yards and gardens to the top of the hill. \u00a0You can see the whole island pretty well, including the Blue Grotto almost directly below the look out. \u00a0It’s now very hot and there is nearly no breeze. \u00a0The blue waters of the \u00a0Tyrrhenian Sea look cool and inviting. \u00a0We have our swimmers but there’s no beach close by.<\/p>\n

We take the chair lift back to Anacapri and wander the shops. \u00a0We do find a great little souvenir before heading to the bus stop. \u00a0The bus is full as we head back to Capri. \u00a0We jump off the bus and head for the square. \u00a0There are people everywhere, it’s so hot and there is little shade. \u00a0We grab a salad roll, some water and try and find a little shade. \u00a0There are lots of high end fashion shops here, we don’t see any customers. \u00a0We decide it’s pool time on the LotS and we head for the bus and ferry back to Naples. \u00a0We have had a great adventure on the cheap and I would recommend Capri.<\/p>\n
