{"id":7821,"date":"2017-08-20T15:46:34","date_gmt":"2017-08-20T15:46:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/?p=7821"},"modified":"2019-05-22T11:30:14","modified_gmt":"2019-05-22T01:30:14","slug":"tourist-route-13-helgelandskysten-part-2-norway-2017","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/?p=7821","title":{"rendered":"Tourist Route 13 Helgelandskysten (part 2), Norway 2017 \ud83c\uddf3\ud83c\uddf4"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><b>Travelled:85 kilometres from Br\u00f8nn\u00f8ysund to Sandnessj\u00f8en, Nordland.<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><b>Visited: Ferry from Horn to Anddalsv\u00e5gen NOK121, ferry from Forvika to Tjotta NOK204 and Petter Daas Memorial and Church.<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><b>Stayed: Parking area under the bridge at Leines (near Sandnessj\u00f8en), free. <a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/Q3artVvrHKQTvCuT6\">N66.04160, E12.72019<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/TR13_Helgelandskysten_20.png\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>This is a map from the tourism website that may provide some background.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Our few days of mild weather has turned. &nbsp;Its a bit chilly this morning and we have had a bit of rain overnight. &nbsp;It continues as drizzle this morning. &nbsp;What the heck, its Norway, we weren&#8217;t planning a day on the beach. &nbsp;It was a very quiet evening on the marina with all our German neighbors. &nbsp;Don&#8217;t mention Angela Merkel and they seem happy enough.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Having been on power overnight we have charged up everything we own, enjoyed a hot shower without using our LPG and left the coffee machine on long enough to warm the cups before making it. &nbsp;Pam enjoys a bonus morning shower and washes her hair. &nbsp;Then we unplug, drive the short distance to the service point, empty and re-fill.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/TR13_Helgelandskysten_21.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>Our first stop is the ferry from Horn to Anddalsv\u00e5gen. The ferry was pulling away as we arrived, so we had to wait an hour for the next service.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/TR13_Helgelandskysten_22.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>The TR13 from Anddalsv\u00e5gen to Forvika is 16 kilometres. It&#8217;s an easy drive but there is nothing really interesting to tell you about.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/TR13_Helgelandskysten_24.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>So we arrive at Forvika to see the ferry heading off again. It seems we are not having a good day with ferries. &nbsp;This time the wait is two hours ! &nbsp;We are in a motorhome, so we put on the internet, play a little music and have lunch.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/TR13_Helgelandskysten_25.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>The drizzle lift and we walk up the hill to a church and poke around for a while.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/TR13_Helgelandskysten_26.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>A hare, the only wildlife we have seen so far in Norway.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/TR13_Helgelandskysten_27.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>A headstone from the churchyard in Forvika. Must have been an in thing in the late 19th century.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Tjotta Ferry\" width=\"1140\" height=\"641\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/LHYZPmspvGk?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>Leaving the ferry at Tjotta we are now travelling along the Alsta, once an island now joined by a narrow spit to Lifjellan peninsula. &nbsp;We have little information on this area, so we try our luck at any interesting tourist sign.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/TR13_Alstahaug_1.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>We see a sign to a church and museum, so we turn to explore.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/TR13_Alstahaug_2.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>Happy to find the church open, we wander in. The church is currently housing a number of works by H\u00e5kon Gullv\u00e5g. &nbsp;Like most churches we have seen in Norway it is Lutheran.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/TR13_Alstahaug_3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"825\" height=\"1100\"\/><figcaption>The carving and colour of this alter piece stand out against the white-washed walls.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/TR13_Alstahaug_4.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>Some examples of the works on display can be seen as you look back toward the choir.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/TR13_Alstahaug_6.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"825\" height=\"1100\"\/><figcaption>This monument and the museum adjoining are dedicated to Petter Dass a Lutheran priest and poet born in Nordland. He must have had a incredible impact on the community because the museum is an amazing building.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/TR13_Alstahaug_8.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>The granite headland has been cut through to build this futuristic structure. However it cost NOK100 to go in, so we settled for the church and drove on.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/TR13_Sandnessj\u00f8en_1.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>Continuing north we have a quick drive through Sandnessj\u00f8en looking for a spot for the night, without any luck. As we drive over this amazing bridge at Leines we see a motorhome parked below.
