{"id":7704,"date":"2017-08-17T16:49:45","date_gmt":"2017-08-17T16:49:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/?p=7704"},"modified":"2019-05-22T10:32:25","modified_gmt":"2019-05-22T00:32:25","slug":"tourist-route-12-the-atlanterhavsvegen-norway-%f0%9f%87%b3%f0%9f%87%b4-2017","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/?p=7704","title":{"rendered":"Tourist Route 12 Atlanterhavsvegen, Norway 2017 \ud83c\uddf3\ud83c\uddf4"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Travelled:58 kilometres from Elnesv\u00e5gan to Vevang, in the Western Fjordlands.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Visited: Driving TR12, the Atlanterhavsvegen, the Museum in Bud, the H\u00e5g\u00e5 Columns and the bridges of Eldhus\u00f8ya<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Stayed: Vevang picnic area car-park, free. &nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/ooiMKrB3f5c7514dA\">N63.00798, E07.29653<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>After driving through Molde, the largest town in the area, we continued on toward the Atlantic coast. &nbsp;Eventually spoting a carpark above and behind a supermarket in Elnsv\u00e5gan with a couple of motorhomes already parked there. &nbsp;So we turned in to have a look, it appears they were obviously in storage, but the carpark had no restriction so we set up for the night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/TR12_Molde_1.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>Driving into Molde in the late afternoon. You may think the sky looks threatening but that&#8217;s just the weather in Norway.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>We have a quiet night after a little drizzle whilst we are having dinner. &nbsp;We have started using the thermal covers on the Hymer&#8217;s front windows and it&#8217;s much warmer overnight now. &nbsp;It significantly reduces the condensation on the glass at the front as well. &nbsp; Anyway its morning and a new day, the internet is again very slow, Pam can pick up the odd thing off &#8216;messanger&#8217; but that&#8217;s about it. &nbsp;Our three sims that were so good last year in Germany, and Denmark and Sweden earlier this trip has been painfull in Norway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There is a service point in the corner of the Esso service station down the hill, so our first stop is less than a hundred metres away. &nbsp;There is also a self-service car wash with a truck section at the end, so we give the Hymer a bath. &nbsp;After 2 weeks driving through Wales in the rain and another 4 weeks drivng through the rain in The Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden and Norway its a bit grimey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/TR12_Bud_Museum_1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"825\" height=\"1100\"\/><figcaption>45 minutes later we turn onto the TR12, Atlanterhavsvegen, our first stop the Bud Museum at the top of the hill.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/TR12_Bud_Museum_2.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>I found the Bud Museum well worth a stop and wander. It&#8217;s not about salmon as this photo would indicate, but tell the story of Bud being occupied and garrisoned during WWII.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/TR12_Bud_Museum_3.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>There are gun emplacements and all sort of interesting war stuff. Which I like and Pam thankfully tolerates.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/TR12_Bud_Museum_4.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>As we walked around a bus load of tourists pull up and spilled out. I quickly identified they were German, but too late Pam had mentioned the war.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/TR12_Bud_Museum_5.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>Made by Krupps in 1914 this gun was well out of date when the Germans mounted it here in 1941.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/TR12_Bud_Museum_6.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>The coastline around the village of Bud<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/TR12_Road.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>Back on the road again. The TR12 is 36 kilometres in length. It turns left and right here and there as it seemingly wanders up the coast.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/TR12_Maleremmen_1.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>At Maleremmen there is a small open air farm museum.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/TR12_Maleremmen_2.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>There are several old farm building from the 1880-1900. They look as though the farmer just walk out and left it as is. They are full of carts, tools etc. The main cottage the furniture of the time.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/TR12_Maleremmen_3.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>Apparently the old farmer preferred his and her toilets \ud83d\udebd. &nbsp;I don&#8217;t think this is what&#8217;s known as a dual flush toilet ?<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/TR12_Farstadstranda_1.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>Our next stop as we continue north is Farstadstranda. An actual beach with sand, the Lonely Planet describes it as one of Norway&#8217;s best beaches.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/TR12_Farstadstrada_2.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>Yes it&#8217;s a beach and there are people swimming.
