{"id":7426,"date":"2017-08-10T05:50:22","date_gmt":"2017-08-10T05:50:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/?p=7426"},"modified":"2019-05-22T07:33:09","modified_gmt":"2019-05-21T21:33:09","slug":"tourist-route-3-hardanger-norway-%f0%9f%87%b3%f0%9f%87%b4-2017","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/?p=7426","title":{"rendered":"Tourist Route 3 Hardanger, Norway 2017 \ud83c\uddf3\ud83c\uddf4"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><b>Travelled: 164 kilometres from Sauda to Hereiane along TR3 in South Western Fjordland<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><b>Visited: Hardangervidda National Park, The Stavekirke in R\u00f8ldal NOK50pp, Latefoss (falls), The Industrial Museum at Tyssdal NOK60pp (seniors), Ferry from Kinsarvik to Utne NOK136, Skjervsfossen (falls).<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><b>Stayed: National Park parking area at Hereiane (free), fanciest toilets in a remote location. <a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/c9h1Erw9odAv9T6m9\">N60.32846 E6.33838<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>The next tourist route on our path north is the Hardanger with the Hardangerfjord in the west and the Hardangervidda National Park in the East.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/TR_3_Map.png\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>National Tourist Route 3<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>As we depart the Ryfylke area the road climbs slowly toward L\u00e5tefoss and the Hardandervidda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/TR3_Hobbit.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>It&#8217;s much colder in the high country that runs through the National Park. &nbsp;I had to stop and have a second look at this house. &nbsp;With a sod roof it has the look of the &#8216;Shire&#8217; about it.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/TR3_Cold_country.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>Being part of the environment, must be the aim.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/TR3_Sheep.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>Another emergency brake test for more bloody sheep \ud83d\udc11 \ud83d\udc11 \ud83d\udc11.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>We cross over the short distance from tourist route 2 to 3. &nbsp;As we do we turn off to visit the Stave Church in R\u00f8ldal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/TR3_SC_2.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>The Stave Kirke in R\u00f8ldal. The information panel said it was established in 1275. Frankly the outside of the Church does not seem to reflect that age.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/TR3_SC_6.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>After being hit for NOK50 each we wander inside a little disgruntled. But the Church is a virtual delight inside.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/TR3_SC10.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"825\" height=\"1100\"\/><figcaption>This Stave Church is famous for the miracle associated with it&#8217;s weeping crucifix ! Apparently to commemorate those who died fighting for Norway&#8217;s independence from Denmark back in the 19th century.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/TR3_Latefoss.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>Our next adventure is Latefoss (falls). We snag the best parking spot and decide to have lunch and relax whilst we take in the spectacle.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/TR3_Latefoss_2.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>The obligatory selfie.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-4-3 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Latefoss, Norway\" width=\"1140\" height=\"855\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Ru5PiVRu-c8?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>We drive the short distance into Odda. &nbsp;There is a proper stellplatz in Odda, finding it is a bit of a puzzle but we eventually do and service the Hymer. &nbsp;You can find it at N60.07109, E06.54682. &nbsp;There is no free parking in town so we drive onto our next stop, the Industrial Museum at Tyssdal, about 5 kilometres north of Odda on the S\u00f8rfjorden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/TR3_Tyssedal_1.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>The Industral Museum at Tyssedal has been developed on the site of an old Hydro Electric Station, about 5 kilometres north of Odda on the S\u00f8rfjorden.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/TR3_Tyssedal_2.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>It&#8217;s has some very interesting displays about the development of the local industries. But the real highlight is the Hydro-Electric plant and how it worked. This included a step by step video from a technician who explained the process of starting a turbine and putting a generator on line.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/TR3_Tyssedal_3.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>From the museum at Tyssedal looking up the valley to Odda. The reflection off the fjords in the late afternoons looks amazing.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>From Tyssedal we continue our journey along the tourist route 3 to Kinsarvik and the ferry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/TR3_Kinsarvik_Ferry.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>The Hymer still get&#8217;s a buzz out of a ferry ride.
