Travelled: 190 kilometres from Vradal to Sinnes in southern central Norway.<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Visited: Dalen, then driving the 45 along the Bergsdalen and Flogdalen.<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stayed: Sirdal, roadside layby free, but nothing else N58.90039 E06.77808<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our evening in Vradal was quiet and we woke to this wonderful view of top lake in the Telemark over our coffee.  There is a service point so we do the usual before getting an early start.  Being Sunday morning, nothings open on a Sunday (in Norway) so we have been told.  The road is free of traffic as well or so it seems as we continue west climbing along with the countryside.  An hour later we start the descent to into Dalen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Its a long steep descent but we roll into town and surprise, surprise the only thing open is the tourist information office.  We walk inside and they have free wifi and fast at that.  We had originally been planning on a cycling along the lake which is part of the national cycling route.  But its cold and windy on the lake this morning, so we spend an hour on the internet instead.  I write yesterday’s blog and Pam catches up with grandchildren and the like.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We have brunch on the lake’s edge.  Back on the road again we start the long climb back out of Dalen on the same road we descended on earlier.  The 45 again continues west the road steadily climbing.  Less trees and patches of ice appear on the hillsides.  We are now travelling on a high plateau, small lakes pass on either side, the trees are gone, just windblown grass.  The 45 has disappeared now being the 243, it much narrower passing traffic is a real challenge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The narrow road makes for an interesting drive. Pam and I have a system, I drive and look around a lot, she navigates and yells at me a lot.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The other challenge are the sheep who apparently own this road.  On our map this road is shown as the Bergsdalen and Flogdalen the two parts divided by a huge dam we pass.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Eventually we come out of the high country and a few houses appear again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our view over the lake for tonight, its about 5 kilometres west of Sinnes. The are 20 or so houses scattered around but the place doesn’t seem to rate a name.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n
