{"id":7220,"date":"2017-08-03T18:21:58","date_gmt":"2017-08-03T18:21:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/?p=7220"},"modified":"2019-05-22T06:47:31","modified_gmt":"2019-05-21T20:47:31","slug":"oslo-norway-%f0%9f%87%b3%f0%9f%87%b4-2017","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/?p=7220","title":{"rendered":"Oslo, Norway 2017 \ud83c\uddf3\ud83c\uddf4"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><b>Travelled: 4 kilometres from the Coliseum carpark to the Marina Stellplatz in Oslo.<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><b>Visted: Norwegian National Opera House (free), Museum of Contemorary Art, Norway&#8217;s Resistance Museum NOK30pp, Viking Ship Museum (NOK80pp)<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><b>Stayed: Oslo Marina Stellplatz, all services, NOK300. &nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/k61DEDvFHQ4G2uWF6\">N59.92887 E10.70566<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>It may seem a little strange to only travel 4 kilometres to relocate, but I&#8217;ll try to explain. &nbsp;We arrived in Oslo late yesterday afternoon, if we went directly to the stellplatz we would have had to pay NOK300 (about A$46) just to park over night, as they charge for the night. &nbsp;As such we stayed in the Colliseum car park for NOK50, which was then free after 8pm, saving about A$37. &nbsp;But the Colliseum car-park, charges NOK25 per hour after 9am, so if your staying all day your better off at the stellplatz over a full day and night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Its all a bit of a mystery to me but Pam has conducted a cost benefit analysis and it&#8217;s better not to argue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>So we are parked in this huge stellplatz holding 250+ motorhomes and its almost full. &nbsp;On the edge of the marina facing the bay, so there is a view if your in the front few rows.There is a bus stop just outside the stellplatz and we are soon on the 160 heading into the city. &nbsp;In less than 10 minutes, the bus driver gives us a wave and suggests we walk down from here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Oslo_3.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>We step off the 160 at the National Theatre \ud83c\udfad, but as it was wrapped partially in scaffold not a good photo. So this pavilion and statue nearby is a substitute.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Oslo_4.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>Oslo is awash with building projects or so it would seem. The National Parliament with its matching cranes.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Oslo_5.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>The Stortingsgata is the central boulevard which host many of Oslo&#8217;s feature buildings. A very interesting look at the Norwegian resistance to Nazi occupation during WWII.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Its well after lunch-time as we walk back down from the fortress to the quay for a bite to eat and a leg rest. &nbsp;Pam found this place that did a health style wraps, so enough said about lunch. &nbsp;From wharf 3 we go catch the Bygd\u00f8y Ferry across the bay. &nbsp;Bygd\u00f8y is a peninsula on the west side of Oslo that also has a number of museums and an extensive park.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Oslo_25.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"750\" height=\"999\"\/><figcaption>Luckily its only a short walk from the pier to the Viking Ship Museum as it starts to rain \u2614\ufe0f again.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Oslo_30.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>There are 3 Viking ships within the museum. Two have had some restoration, one has been preserved as it was found. They are all over a 1,000 years old. Apparently all 3 were funeral ships, that had been buried in mounds.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Oslo_33.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"750\" height=\"999\"\/><figcaption>You can have a read yourself.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Oslo_31.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>Got a fairly strong dressing down from a 7 foot tall security guard for this photo. I lent over the chain and took this photo through the rollick holes on the side of the ship.
