{"id":7186,"date":"2017-08-03T07:13:30","date_gmt":"2017-08-03T07:13:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/?p=7186"},"modified":"2019-05-21T18:31:57","modified_gmt":"2019-05-21T08:31:57","slug":"south-koster-island-sweden-%f0%9f%87%b8%f0%9f%87%aa-2017","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/?p=7186","title":{"rendered":"South Koster Island, Sweden 2017 \ud83c\uddf8\ud83c\uddea"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><b>Travelled: 140 kilometres from Str\u00f6mstad in Sweden \ud83c\uddf8\ud83c\uddea&nbsp; to Oslo in Norway \ud83c\uddf3\ud83c\uddf4&nbsp;.<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><b>Visited: South Koster Island by ferry SEK420<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><b>Stayed: Colliseum car park in Oslo, free (NOK25ph but free after 8pm) <a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/k61DEDvFHQ4G2uWF6\">N59.92887 E10.70566<\/a> (thanks M&amp;M)<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>The stellplatz at Str\u00f6mstad has a free bus stop to and from the town. &nbsp;So we take a late afternoon bus ride into town to investigate the local ferries. &nbsp;10 minutes later we find the tourist office and get some maps and details for the ferry service to Koster. &nbsp;We have a wander about the marina before catching the bus back.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our evening at Str\u00f6mstad was a bit noisier than we normally like. &nbsp;A goup of motorhomers just across the way decided on a sing-song about 7pm and this continued until about 10pm. &nbsp;You do get a bit tired of a ukulele after a couple of hours. &nbsp;They were still playing as we went to bed, I cannot remember if they stopped or I just fell asleep anyway. &nbsp;Other than that it was a good sleep and we woke to a little early drizzle as usual.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Stromstad_2.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>Our spot on the stellplatz in Str\u00f6mstad.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Thinking our ferry and cycle ride wasn&#8217;t looking good, we checked the forcast which indicated it was clear. &nbsp;So the ferry it is. &nbsp;After coffee and breakfast I unload the bikes and we head into town on the cycleway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Stromstad_3.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>On the ferry as we depart Str\u00f6mstad. The ferry stops at 5 different villages on the two islands, being North and South Koster.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Koster_1.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>We pass several small islands on our way across to Koster. &nbsp;It really is a beautiful piece of coastline.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Koster_2.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>The ferries second stop is Eken\u00e5s on South Koster. We disembark with our bicycles and the adventure starts.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Koster_3.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>So for the next couple few hours we ride the ups and down of South Koster. The roads and paths are narrow, but we don&#8217;t see a car, only the odd vehicle most suitable described as a tuk tuk.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Koster_5.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>There is the odd very nice little village like this one, which is more a sort of Swedish version of a condo, mostly it&#8217;s older summer houses, well kept with an &#8216; On Golden Ponds&#8217; look about them.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Koster_6.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>There&#8217;s even a golf course on South Koster !<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Koster_8.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"900\" height=\"1200\"\/><figcaption>Visit this lovely little church. I put it on a Facebook post and my sister Jeni commented &#8216;I just ordered one of those from IKEA !&#8217; (I hope a piece is missing and she has to take it back)<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Koster_9.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>Inside the Church is just as simple as the outside. &nbsp;Maybe it is IKEA !<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Koster_10.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>We even have time to do a short walk into the National Park, mind you the weather is turning.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Koster_11.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>I try an avoid pictures of myself, but here I am in L\u00e5ngeg\u00e4rd. You will note I am wearing traditional Australian national dress (winter). As an addendum do you have any idea how difficult it is to write \u00f6 and \u00e5 on an iPad keyboard ?<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/L\u00e5ngeg\u00e4rd_13.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>Yes that&#8217;s the spelling !<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Koster_12.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>We have some time to waste before the ferry back to Str\u00f6mstad, so we have a seafood pizza and a drink in this little cafe at&nbsp;L\u00e5ngeg\u00e4rd.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Norway_1.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>On our return to the stellplatz we pack up the bikes, service the Hymer and make a late dash to Oslo. &nbsp;This is the nervous part, crossing the Norwegian customs gate with a Hymer full of beer. &nbsp;Gave them the lager lad wink and smile and we were in.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Oslo_2.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>We arrive safely in Oslo, parking in a free spot near the Figures Park.
