{"id":6475,"date":"2017-07-07T09:27:20","date_gmt":"2017-07-06T23:27:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/?p=6475"},"modified":"2019-05-21T06:47:34","modified_gmt":"2019-05-20T20:47:34","slug":"starting-our-2017-adventure","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/?p=6475","title":{"rendered":"Another Adventure, England 2017 \ud83c\uddec\ud83c\udde7"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Travelled: 178 kilometres from Bosham (Church Farm) to Oxford.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Visited: A day in Transit.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Stayed: The Old Red Lion, Oxford Road, Marston (Oxford). &nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/ZBXZPSNkkL6UF5pw6\">N51.77233 W01.23752<\/a> &nbsp;(A PubStop) free.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>We arrive at Heathrow 10 minutes before our scheduled time. &nbsp;While Singapore Airlines operated with it&#8217;s usual efficiency, 22 hours is a long flight. &nbsp;We are lucky to pull an empty seat, so we can spread out on the first leg to Singapore. &nbsp;But with the child across the ailse screaming for 6 of the 8.5 hour to Singapore had everyone on the boil. &nbsp;The secong leg was much better, especially for Pam who broke a personal record and got several hours kip.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So we are through border control within the hour and on our way to Church Farm near Bosham to be re-united with our home on wheels affectionatley known as &#8216;The Hymer&#8217;. &nbsp;Pam does the unpacking whilst I close all the valves, fill the water tank, and start testing all the Hymer&#8217;s habitation system. &nbsp;We cannot get the fridge to start, so some worried looks are exchanged as we contemplate warm beer. &nbsp;Someone has closed the LPG isolation valve leading to the fridge, so with the flick of a valve cold beer is back on the menu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/UK_Border_2017.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>Glad to be off the plane despite the conga line !<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Our English cousins Terry and Lelia arrive shortly after with several packages I have ordered over the past 8 months. &nbsp;Its a little like Christmas, as I cannot remember half of the stuff, but thats OK. &nbsp;Pam knows I would never order anything that wasnt really necessary. &nbsp;Shortly after we are sitting in the Berkeley Arms catching up on family gossip and the like. &nbsp;Pam and Lelia prattle on about the grandchildren whist Terry and I discuss the merits of the new Golf V Tiguan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After lunch we find the fridge is cold and we say our goodbyes to Terry and Lelia and depart Church Farm and head north&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We have a great run North until we hit Oxford and the evening traffic, it takes almost an hour to drive the last few miles. &nbsp;Oxford is the home of the Mini, a little trivia for you. &nbsp;Very interesting sitting in the traffic where 1 in every 3 cars is a Mini. &nbsp;I dont mind saying it was a struggle given the long flight, lunch and general jet lag. &nbsp;Luckily there was no chance of me falling asleep with the dulcid tones of Pam snooring away next to me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/The_Old_Red_Lion.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>The Old Red Lion proved to be a lovely old pub with a large grass area for motorhomes well away from the pub itself.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Anyway The Old Red Lion proves to be a great spot, there is a large grassed area at the rear and we settle in next to a motorhome from The Netherlands. &nbsp;The Publican welcomes us and states there is no charge for staying over if we use the pub. &nbsp;So we have a beer and glass of wine (\u00a38), watch Wimbledon for a while using the free wifi before calling it a night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div>Michael and Pam<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div id=\"bpp_credits\" style=\"clear: both; float: right; width: 200px; height: 70px; text-align: right;\"><a style=\"text-decoration: none;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.blogpadpro.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"vertical-align: middle; font-size: 8pt; color: #999;\">Edited with BlogPad Pro<\/span><figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"vertical-align: middle; padding-left: 5px;\" src=\"http:\/\/files.blogpadpro.com\/images\/speech-bubble.png\" width=\"25\" height=\"25\"><\/figure><\/a><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Travelled: 178 kilometres from Bosham (Church Farm) to Oxford.
