(Camper Contact) &nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/458VgAfErHA2\">N52.59562 E13.28909<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>We wake about 4 am and it&#8217;s raining steadily, then again about 6 and it&#8217;s steady drizzle. &nbsp;By breakfast it hasn&#8217;t change and the forecast is for more of the same. &nbsp;We look at the weather forecast at Muritz Lakes and Berlin and Berlin gets the nod. &nbsp;Our original plan was to spend a day on the Muritz Lakes, spending the day walking or cycling in the National Park, but Pam doesn&#8217;t like either in the rain so Muritz will need to wait and we pack up and hit the road for Berlin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In Australia we&#8217;re used to the weekly fuel price cycle, in Germany Sunday is cheap diesel day, so we fill up for \u20ac1.02 a litre. &nbsp;By the way the supermarkets and nearly everything else other than bars and cafes are closed on Sunday, so it&#8217;s do with what you have or go out for dinner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/Berlin_1.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>This picture does not accurately capture the traffic, after driving for an hour, we were suddenly in a huge traffic jam for 30 minutes. &nbsp;Just as quickly it disappears and everyone is doing 130+ except us of course.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Anyway a couple of turns off the autobahn, we arrive at our stellplatz. &nbsp;I had a stellplatz identified in the city, but someone said it was closed and re-checking the data-base it has been tagged as closed, so Tegal it is. &nbsp;Tegal is a small outer suburb of Berlin and as we discoverer a very nice suburb at that. &nbsp;It has a 30 minute rail service to Berlin and a very pretty plaza with lots of bars and restuarants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/Berlin_2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"750\" height=\"999\"\/><figcaption>We wander into a little takeaway asia restuarant and I discover Berliner Kindl, the local drop. &nbsp;Whilst Pam loves Lidl beer, the Perlenbacher being her favorite at \u20ac0.29 a can, she has never actually tried one, she just likes the price. &nbsp;Being Father&#8217;s Day I&#8217;am authorized to spend \u20ac1.50 on a Berliner !!! &nbsp;What a wonderful wife.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/Berlin_3.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>The Brandenburg Tor (Gate) , and the starting point for our walking tour of Berlin. &nbsp;As you can see it&#8217;s a cool and cloudy morning, the weather doesn&#8217;t improve much until the late afternoon.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/Berlin_5.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>The Memorial to the Murdered European Jews, colloquially known as the Holocaust Memorial.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/Berlin_6.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>Pam stands in the a small reserve surrounded by East German apartment blocks built back in the 60&#8217;s. &nbsp;Hitler&#8217;s bunker was 12 metres below Pam&#8217;s feet. &nbsp;He and his wife Eva were partially cremated within a few metres of here as well.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/Berlin_7.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>A rare piece of GDR propaganda. We visit Hermann Goring&#8217;s Luftwaffe Building, one of the few buildings to survive the war. Later the GDR Council Chambers and now the German Tax Office. &nbsp;Anyway the point of the visit is this mural showing the happy people of East Berlin. &nbsp;There is a second memorial nearby to the 256 people killed when a union stop work meeting and protest march on this building was broken up by the Police and Army.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/Berlin_7-1.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>Touristy corner near the Wall. Currywurst appears to be Berlin&#8217;s favorite food. &nbsp;Every lunch place has a board out the front with currywurst on top. So for lunch it&#8217;s currywurst, so to my surprise I find it&#8217;s a sausage cut into pieces about 15cm, simmered in a tomato and curry flavored sauce. &nbsp;Served on a paper bowl, a small bread roll on the side. &nbsp;Some days you think a Galo&#8217;s pie would be nice !<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/Berlin_8.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>Where once stood the Berlin Wall. This double line of bricks criss-crosses the city here and there.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/Berlin_9.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>A section of the original wall, it has a barrier and security to stop tourists breaking off pieces with a hammer.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/Berlin_10.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"750\" height=\"999\"\/><figcaption>The place known as Check-Point Charlie on the old east-west partition. Funnily enough from all the old movies I remembered it as being at the end of a bridge.
