We depart Chamonix and our driving for the next hour is predominately down hill toward Geneva on the southern banks of Lake Geneva, obviously in Switzerland. However the freeway skirts the border and while we can see Geneva we remain a few kilometres from its outskirts.  Which is a bit of a shame as we paid \u20ac45 for an annual Swiss toll pass two months ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Three hours and another \u20ac50 of tolls poorer we roll into Dijon.  It didn’t appear to be too camper car friendly on our way east, but it’s been a long day.  It’s really a small city and we struggle in the late afternoon traffic into the old city and amazingly find an unmetered spot in a laneway a few blocks from from the Cathedral of Saint Benigne and set off on another adventure.  The Cathedral itself is not as large as we have seen in other provincial cities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Likewise we see many old fashion merry-go-rounds. They are beautifully restored and have a nostalgic feel.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

It seems every French provincial city we visit has a light rail service. Dijon as well.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Walking up into the town square which is not square as it happens but resolutely named the ‘Place de la Liberation’.  After touring Turkey and Greece we have forgotten what a beautiful places French small cities and towns can be.  It’s just so French, if you have visited France you will know what we mean.  Pam has an urge to find some local specialties and it is Dijon, so mustards are in order.  We find just the right the mustard shop and Pam is happy.  It’s getting late and very cold, so back in the Hymer we find the co-ordinates for an aire which it eventuates is a municipal campsite.  As it was late, cold and we have some salmon to BBQ, we cough up \u20ac15 and spend the night charging our batteries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
