Travelled : 1210 NM from The Maldives to The Seychelles <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Visited : Victoria on Mah\u00e9 Island and Moyene Island  <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stayed : Holland America\u2019s Zuiderda<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

After two relaxing sea days we have covered the 1200 NM to the Seychelles. The Zuiderdam requiring four of its five diesel generators to maintain the 20 knots per hour required to cover the distance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Just after 9 am the island of M<\/strong>ah\u00e9 and the town of Victoria looms out of the sea mist signally our arrival in the Seychelles. The Seychelles are an archipelago of 155 islands, standing 800 NM of East African, Kenya to be specific. According to Wiki it\u2019s considered an African country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Zuiderdam docks at Victoria\u2019s container port, leaving a long walk into Victoria. However we are docked conveniently close to a huge fish factory and the smell soon encourages us all to be on the move.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For a change of pace we have booked an excursion to Moyene Island this morning. Situated about 5 kilometres off Victoria it\u2019s within the Seychelles\u2019 marine national park. The day is a little gloomy and there is a breeze. We load onto a big catamaran, which I didn\u2019t take a photo of unfortunately and depart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once where within the national park we transfer to a semi-submersible for a 30 minute look at the reef and marine life. It was an interesting experience and a bit of fun although Pam thought the best bit was the end.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Safely back on the big catamaran we get the flippers and snorkel gear on, spending about 45 minutes exploring the reef adjacent to the island. The water a little murky and much of the coral was damaged so not a great experience but it was nice to have a snorkel and do a bit of exploring again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Back on the big cat with Pam nowhere to be seen, apparently she\u2019d jumped in a zodiac to the island for a swim on the beach. Doesn\u2019t sound like Pam, so I thought I\u2019d better go look see myself. Finding Pam and Kerry bobbing around out there waiting for a dress shop to pass by.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s almost 4pm by the time we return to the Zuiderdam and the smell of fish which has now permeated the whole ship. Where both starving so it\u2019s a very late lunch (nothing with fish) and a drink. Our original plan of walking up into Victoria for a sight see lost.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So that was our day in the Seychelles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
