Travelled: 360 kms from St George to Narrabri \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Visited: Mungindi and Narrabri \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stayed: Narrabri Big Sky CP, $35, S30.33072, E149.78518\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Budget: 59 days @ $XX per day<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Having spent two days cycling around St George it\u2019s time to continue south. It\u2019s a long time between drinks in central west Queensland to use an Australian colloquialism. So we set the GPS for Mungindi on the NSW\/Queensland border.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fifty kms later we stop at Thallon for a coffee and to take in Grain Corp\u2019s Thallon Silo Art.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mungindi proves to be a bit of a charmless place. The picture above churches it up. Mungindi is a pub, post office and a community shop that runs from the building that was once the RSL club in a previous life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However its another 200 kms on to Narrabri so Mungindi it is. It\u2019s a cold windy afternoon as we walk the town exploring, lots of old houses either rented or vacant, yards full of old rusting cars and the odd barking dog<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Mungindi CP is a basic affair but very friendly. We\u2019re invited to a get together around the fire at 4.30. Thankfully the fire was in the shed, being warm and cosy so I could coax Pam out of the Jayco.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We escape Mungindi and continue south on the Carnarvon Hwy through Moree onto the Newall Hwy to Narrabri. The one hundred kms from Moree is a continuous series of roadworks in intermittent drizzle, the Jayco is a mess. We have a booking for two nights at the Big Sky CP, next door to Narrabri pool co-incidentally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our next two days are exploring Narrabri after our morning laps in the pool. Some photos\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Narrabri\u2019s a nice town and the district is doing well. Everything is green, yellow or white. The pastures are green, the canola crops yellow and the road trains carting huge rolls of raw cotton rolling through town.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hopefully next time we travel through Narrabri it will be a little warmer and dryer so we can expand our visit on our bikes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
