Visited: Roma  <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stayed: Big Rig Roma CP, $46, S26.57341, E148.79781  <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Budget: 54 days @ $XX per day<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s a lovely sunny morning as we make the Jayco ready for the road once again. Continuing south on the Carnarvon Hwy it\u2019s an easy hour and a bit drive to Roma.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rolling into Roma<\/a> we do a quick tour before finding the Big Rig CP and settling in. We have booked here for 3 days based on the heated 50 pool; just up the street to find it\u2019s closed for July contrary to what we were told. The CP is very busy and our spot tight but after the first day we worked out it was better than most.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So we unload the bikes and start exploring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Just up the road from the Big Rig CP is the Big Rig Tourist Office. The $20 entry seems a bit expensive so we ride on. Roma is locally portrayed as the heart of the Queensland cattle industry, the huge sale yard complex about 5 kms west of the town being proof.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over the next couple of days we ride the cycle paths, explore the Botanic Gardens and take a look at Queenslands largest bottle tree.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A bottle tree is not a boab tree, being a different species to the WA Boab<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Instead of spending the afternoon relaxing watching Le Tour, Pam wants to do another lap around Roma stumbling upon the cemetery and its resident mob of kangaroos who keep the grass manicured.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our last interesting find is the sculpture exhibition just off the highway on the edge of town. The following just an example.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We enjoyed Roma but 2 days probably would have done it, not that we\u2019re in a hurry. Mind you we note the weather is getting colder every day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
