Budget: 9 days @ $XX per day<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Having spend 4 nights in Palm Beach visiting our daughter Alix and granddaughter India it was sadly time to move on. Palm Beach provided plenty of good walks around Burleigh Headland and cycle paths along the Palm Beach foreshore, we also the opportunity to catch up with our friends Frank and Tina who live in nearby Tallebudgera.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After a final cuddle from India we set the GPS for Bribie Island via Ipswich for lunch with Pedro and Jean. Long story short we arrive at Bongaree CP in the late afternoon and settle in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Having determined not to do blogs on places we\u2019ve previously visited, I\u2019ll just add a couple of photos from Bribie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Bongaree CP is an old council park, a bargain at $38 a night. Our original booking was for 2 nights but we liked it so much we stayed an extra day. Bribie has an excellent cycle path that overlooks the Pumicestone Passage that separates the island from the mainland and Pam recommends the heated pool for your morning laps as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We also had lunch with our friends Rob and Kris who have now retired to Bribie, didn\u2019t know we had so many friends did you ? Next time we come north Bongaree CP is a must. I even managed to catch a couple of fish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Back on the road again it\u2019s a two hour drive to Maroochydore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We had selected the Maroochydore Beach CP for no other reason than it was the cheapest, if you consider $68 a night cheap. On the day we departed the tariff rose to $78 a night as its high season. I enquired if it\u2019s school holidays somewhere, only to be told that the 1st June is the start of grey nomad season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The CP has direct access to the beach but it was too windy for a swim during our visit. Whilst Mooloolaba and Maroochydore were two of my favourite places in the early 70\u2019s we found it relatively charmless now. Very busy, chaotic traffic and nowhere to eat or drink within an easy walk from the CP. The main commercial strip is two kilometres long not to mention two huge malls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cycling the Maroochy River, the heated public pool and catching a couple of fish the high points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
