Travelled: 800 kms from Sydney to Murwillumbah <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Visited: Murwillumbah NSW<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stayed: Murwillumbah Showgrounds, $35, S28.32360, E153.39363\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Budget: 4 days @ $XX per day<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Winter has taken hold in Sydney so it\u2019s time to head north for warmer and hopefully a dryer climate. Its been several months since our last post was published as we departed the UK for Australia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Jayco has been visiting grandchildren and friends around greater Sydney over the summer months. We\u2019ve needed to restrict our travelling for various health and family reasons, but finally it\u2019s time to go.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We stopped overnight at Bulahdelah Bowling Club and Coffs Leagues Club as we travel north. We\u2019ve stopped at both venues on a previous trip. After a long drive a safe and inexpensive overnight stop being our priority. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Looking for somewhere we haven\u2019t previously visited we detour off the M1 for Murwillumbah.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ignoring the GPS we turn for Mooball, stop for fuel and take a scenic drive through the National Park to Murwillumbah<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Luckily we booked a site at the showgrounds campsite yesterday as we arrive to find the \u2018full up\u2019 sign at the gate. The caretaker tells us the recent rain has severely limited the sites available, but we don\u2019t care we have a nice spot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once we\u2019ve settled we head off to do a little exploring. Murwillumbah is described as a sleepy village at the head of the Tweed Valley. It\u2019s not too sleepy in reality, the local businesses seem to be thriving and plenty of traffic. As we wander we find many Queenslander style homes, federation buildings some lovely open spaces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other than its pie shop Murwillumbah\u2019s other claim to fame is the starting point of the Northern Rivers Rail Trail. The trail starts from the old Murwillumbah railway station just over the Tweed River bridge. We ride the trail for an hour before turning back and enjoying it all again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So that\u2019s it, Murwillumbah is done for this trip. We continue north tomorrow looking forward to spending a few days with our granddaughter India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
