Budget: 88 days @ \u20ac90 per day<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s a long drive from Budapest to Prague not to mention having to drive though either Slovakia or Austria to get there. There are some interesting small cities such as Bratislava and Brno on the way but our data base doesn\u2019t indicate a stellplatz or even a campsite close to town. We have decided to push on to Prague.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The motorways require vignettes (toll passes) \u20ac12 in Slovakia and \u20ac17 in Czechia, which seem expensive, except when you compare that with driving around Sydney.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s a long relatively easy drive but traffic delays add an extra hour to the journey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We safely arrive in Prague in the late afternoon. Our neighbour in Budapest recommended a small campsite north of the city, but we arrive to find it\u2019s full. There is another campsite 200 metres up the road, so that will do.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s a sardine can posing as a campsite. Everyone is packed in, the place is full of Italians which only add to the claustrophobia. On the plus side the internet works, the amenities are handy and the tram stop is 200 metres away. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our first proper day in Prague starts with the usual walk whilst the washing machine does its thing. We do some cleaning up, unload the scooter. Go shopping whilst the washing dries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We don\u2019t walk off to the tram until after lunch. The tram takes about 20 minutes to Charles Bridge, despite the fact the trams looks relatively new, they\u2019re not air-conditioned. Given it\u2019s a hot afternoon, the trams windows are up high and small it\u2019s not a pleasant ride. But it was free, if your over 65 public transport is free is Prague.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our guide book tells Charles Bridge is a good starting point for exploring Prague. Pictured below, it was commissioned by Charles IV being completed in 1390. It has been a pedestrian bridge since the end of the WWII.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As you would expect Charles Bridge has plenty of ornaments, a couple of examples appear below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Getting across the bridge takes the best part of 20 minutes. It\u2019s very crowded and like everyone else, we\u2019re trying to get the perfect picture. Added to that, the tat pop-ups and several artist stalls offering portraits all adds to the chaos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The mayhem continues as we walk up the hill to Mala Strana Square. Some random photos of the square and surrounding streets appear below, just to give you the feel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We have been wandering for 90 minutes before we turn back and make our way over the bridge once again. We spot a lovely little bar overlooking the Danube, deciding it\u2019s Pilsner Urquell and Aperol Spritz time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Back onto a #17 tram and home to the Hymer. We open all the windows and turn on the fan for 30 minutes, then close up and get the AC working for a good nights sleep.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
