Our second day in Turin starts with a 4 kms walk up the cycle path and around the park, just to get us warmed up for another 6 kms in the city later in the day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We take the scooter in once again but this time we park right in the centrum hoping to save some walking, but it was still a big day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pam can see the market marques from half a kilometres away, so we walk along this lovely boulevard pictured above. Some how we stumble upon the Chiesa (church) dello Spirito Santo, pictured below. After so many relatively austere French churches, the Spirito Santo is flamboyant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You don\u2019t need to be a detective to finding an archeological park and some ruins of Ancient Rome in any Italian city. The Palatine Gate is a little hard to miss.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We can see a bell tower a couple of blocks away so we continue on finding the Cathedral Bell Tower (circa 1469) and surprisingly right next door the Duomo di San Giovanni Battista, pictured below. Like everything else in Italy it\u2019s closed from 1-3pm, it\u2019s still a couple of minutes to 1. Pam puts up a pretty good fight but with the church warden but we don\u2019t get in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our guide book highlights the Mole Antonelliana as Turin\u2019s number one attraction, it\u2019s pictured below. The Mole has a viewing tower up top, but the lower section is dedicated to the National Museum of Cinema.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The queue for the viewing tower was more than an hour, but the Museum of Cinema was a walk in. As \u2018baby boomers\u2019 we are the children of cinema. We paid our \u20ac12 pp and went in to explore the movies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The museum takes us through the development of movies in their most basic form to the era of classic cinema to the modern day. Best of all when you get a bit foot sore there are plenty of lay back cinema seating to take the load off and watch snippets of your favourite film.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All the information panels have an English version and all the movies have English subtitles. It was great fun playing with the CGU units and the dunny theatre was hilarious. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
