Visited: Saint-Junien and S\u00e9gur-le-Ch\u00e2teau  <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stayed: Objat Aire CC, \u20ac8, N45.27120, E01.41180  <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Budget: 50 days @ \u20ac88 per day<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

After a quiet evening in Saint-Junien we go off for our mandatory walk this morning. Not a post-card town by any means but interesting. We can already feel the heat in the air, it\u2019s going to be hot today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Back at the campsite which was excellent we have a late breakfast and ready the Hymer for the road once again. Setting the GPS for S\u00e9gur-le-Ch\u00e2teau we leave town via the E.Leclerc rather than the Lidl for a change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From our guide book the Most Beautiful Villages in France you\u2019ll find S\u00e9gur-le-Chateau on page 258. S\u00e9gur-le-Chateau stands on the River Auvez\u00e9re in the Limousin. The fortress that overlooks the town was once the birthplace of the viscounts of Limoges, so it\u2019s not surprising S\u00e9gur-le-Chateau is the centre of the Limousin. S\u00e9gur comes from an old French term, meaning place of safety.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We find a parking spot on the edge of the village and start exploring. The river winds like a serpent through S\u00e9gur. There are three old bridges to cross each one providing a different views of the river and the village. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s a long walk up the hill to the \u00c9glise Saint-L\u00e9ger, pictured below. We find a group of tradesmen cutting, banging and hammering inside. Wish they\u2019d had a sign at the bottom of the hill saying \u2018\u00c9glise Closed\u2019. The last thing we needed was a steep walk on a hot afternoon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So we\u2019ve done S\u00e9gur as best we can on a hot afternoon. There\u2019s a paid aire a few kms further south-east in Objat so we set the GPS and hope we\u2019ll enjoy a night with the AC keeping things comfortable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
