As we were asleep at 9.30 it wasn\u2019t a deal breaker.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Anyway we do what we need to do and head off toward Malton and Castle Howard before 10 am.  It\u2019s an easy drive and we arrive in the carpark at 10.30. It has been privately owned by the Howard family for more than 300 years.  Built where a castle once stood, hence the name. It\u2019s typically English with huge sweeping lawns, surrounded by fully mature trees and a couple of large lakes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The main gardens most striking feature is the Atlas Fountain.
