The wind has dropped and the skies clear and it\u2019s cold.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After sitting out Saturday and Sunday of the bank holiday weekend in Ribblehead it\u2019s time to get moving.  After coffee and fruit Pam heads off for a short walk whilst I get the Hymer ready to for the road.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Where on the road early once again hoping to avoid the holiday traffic.  The road is narrow and winding, but there\u2019s little traffic. We stop in the market town of Leyburn for a shop at the COOP as the cupboards are empty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>By 10.30 we are parked at Fountain\u2019s Abbey carpark, having had a second coffee, we prepare ourselves to pay the princely sum of \u00a318 pp entry fee. No point joining the National Trust this year as we only plan a couple of their sites.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/en.m.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Fountains_Abbey\" target=\"_blank\">Fountains Abbey<\/a> is the largest and best preserved ruined Cistercian monastery in\u00a0England. Founded in 1132, the abbey operated for 407 years, becoming one of the wealthiest monasteries in England until its\u00a0dissolution, by order of\u00a0Henry VIII, in 1539.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So enjoy the class=\"wp-element-caption\">Looking down the nave its enormous <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>From the Abbey we follow the pathway to the Studley Royal Garden, created in the 18th century long after the monks had gone.  The garden is traditional English in style, that is expansive lawns, fully mature trees and sculptured ponds. Still in North Yorkshire it\u2019s 45 minutes in the right direction.  It has a small RV stop behind a bike shop with services at \u00a312 per night a bargain for England I can assure you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After chatting to our neighbour in another camper and an afternoon rest we head off exploring <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/en.m.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Pickering,_North_Yorkshire\" target=\"_blank\">Pickering<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-2 is-cropped wp-block-gallery-3 is-layout-flex These two pubs stand at either end of Market Place.  Pam quickly settles in to a local SB (see the cover photo).
