We roll out of Coffin Bay with my oysters sitting safely on the top shelf in the fridge. Turning back onto the Flinders highway and heading north for another couple of hours on the road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At this point a comment on the roads of the Eyre Peninsula. The Flinders and Lincoln Hwy are excellent, reasonably wide and well marked. There is the odd deviation and very few overtaking lanes. But there are so many long straight sections of road, often 20 kms plus in length.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There\u2019s a bit of road kill scattered here and there but we\u2019ve only had one emergency stop that was for an emu standing in the middle of the road. Obviously once we stopped he moved and several of his mates emerged from the scrub and crossed as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The strong winds do push the Jayco about so we\u2019ve done most of our highway driving on the EP at 95 kph. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We stop for a coffee at the Cummings Monument. It\u2019s a steep 800m walk from the stop to the monument which overlooks the cove where Leo lost his life while lobster fishing. If you zoom in you should be able read the tragic story of his death in 1959. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thirty minutes further into todays drive we spot a tourist sign for Locks Well. Apparently named after the man who sunk a well here in 1950, it\u2019s one of the few access points to the beach on this section of the coast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While it\u2019s an easy drive to the carpark at the top of the hill, however it\u2019s a long walk downhill to the beach and a lot of steps back up. Anyway the views were worth the cardiac workout.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We soon spot another set of silos and the turn for Elliston our stop for the night. As we\u2019ve driven north the weather has been very fickle, turning from drizzle to sunshine several times. As this photo shows Elliston isn\u2019t looking any brighter. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The CP is actually very nice and tidy, we park on the grass and relax for a while or at least Pam does. I have some routine maintenance to do a bracket on the bed has let go so armed with a new heavy bracket and some screws from the nearby hardware and a loan drill from the CP handyman the jobs done.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The local tourist map has a beach and cliff walk highlighted so next morning we go off in the sunshine. Over the next hour we get rained on twice and return to the Jayco with some nice photos but soaking wet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So once again we ready the Jayco for the road and continue north on the Flinders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
