Travelled: 28 kms from to Speyer to Landau \u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stayed: Fiat Landau, \u20ac, N00.31090, E00.45050\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Budget: 104 days @ \u20ac105 per day<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Monday morning to our surprise someone at the breakdown service answers the phone. After getting all sorts of assurances and promises we wait another 6 hours and a retriever arrives to pick up the Hymer. He looks at the Hymer tells us it will need to be taken to Landau some distance away and he doesn\u2019t have authorisation to take it that far, so we wait another hour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anyway we finally get moving to Fiat Landau, which as it happens is a motorhome specialist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So we arrive as the dealer is closing, they show us where to park and connect us to power.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Next day a mechanic has a look and tells us they have ordered a new radiator spigot, a \u20ac10 part. We are told it will be here tomorrow. Another long day. Landau has little else to offer unfortunately.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Next morning the mechanic appears with the part, it doesn\u2019t fit. The spigot which appears to be identical, has a finer thread. The thought of a couple more days in Landau has us both in despair.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A fitter mechanic from the motorhome section comes over has a look, taking the bits. An hour or so later he re-appears having made a new spigot from an old bolt but with the same thread. He makes a few adjustments, then fits the makeshift spigot, re-fills the Hymer with coolant and gives it a 30 minute test.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There\u2019s no leaks and we get the nod we are good to go. It cost a lot more than \u20ac10 but so happy to be back on the road. We set the GPS for Worms and get the hell out of Landau.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
