Our visit to New York has been full of exciting adventures, we are sad to leave and already plotting our return. Our little apartment on East 6th Street was great. Clean, tidy with a little garden and very quiet. The neighborhood is very trendy with lots of little pubs and relatively cheap restaurants.<\/p>\n

East 6th Street is not close to anything really but it’s not more than 20-30 minutes from most things. Manhattan is a huge island with lots of traffic. Just keep thinking uptown or downtown. With your metro card public transport is cheap and efficient. However making sure your on the right bus or subway isn’t easy and it pays to check.<\/p>\n

Cannot get a descent coffee anywhere, it’s all too weak and so hot you cannot drink it until tomorrow. We are doing our usual traveling thing, cereal and fruit for breakfast before leaving. We make our own lunch of ham and cheese bagels (closest bakery is jewish) and a danish and off we go every morning. We have eaten out every night, the food has been great and a reasonable price. Yet the bill is a always bigger then you think, the alcohol in restaurants is expensive, then there’s the tip.<\/p>\n

The night life is something else, Manhattan comes alive at night. The streets and avenues just wake up on dusk. Little pubs, restaurants and cafes appear as if by magic. We managed two broadway shows, Jersey Boys and the Book of Mormon. Both were great. We managed most of the usual tourist things but some specials included. Renting push bikes and riding Central Park. Lunch at Tony’s on West 112th (Seinfeld’s Restaurant). Walking the High Line community garden. Having an Aussie Pie at the Tuck-Shop on East 9th Street.<\/p>\n\n
